Default 2008 Corvette wheels

I bought a 2008 C6 Corvette and it has the chrome wheels but they are just like the chrome wheels I had on my 2007. When I look at 2008 cars on line they have the new style wheels. does anyone know why all 2008 don`t have the new style wheels on them. I`m guessing they changed wheels mid year but I don`t know for sure. Thanks

Yes, they changed the original style to the "Gumby" style in Feb-March '08 and dropped the old style.

The chromes changed mid year, polished were Gumby style from the beginning. The painted and Comp Gray were split spoke design.

I thought that might be the reason. I think I like the new wheel better. Thanks

Other than the Z06 Spyder wheel the Gumby is my favorite.

The RPO QG7 (polished, forged aluminum "Gumby" wheels were available at the beginning of '08 production. The RPO QX3 (chrome cast aluminum "Original Design") were an option available throughout '08 model year production. These were the '05 - '07 chrome wheels. There is no listing in the '08 Dealer Order Guide for chrome "Gumbys".

The dealer ordering guide you may be looking at, was probably published at the beginning of the model year.

Based on the production figures, I would guess the polished gumby (QG7, 5412 units) was the original offering in '08 and the 5-spoke (QX3, 9626 units) was still the only chrome wheel available. I assume when the chrome gumby (Q9V, 2932 units) was introduced, that the 5-spoke was dropped. The 3 to 1 ratio (QX3 to Q9V) suggests the change happened in Feb/Mar of '08.

According to the production figures for 2005, the only wheels available were polished or painted. No chrome.
The 2006 records show the QX3 (chrome) as a low percentage (17%) to the polished QG7, suggesting they were a late year introduction. That reasoning is based on the 2007 production where QX3 wheels nearly outsold all other non-Z06 wheels by a 2 to 1 margin.

Q9V came out mid year '08 and there was a period of overlap when you could have gotten either that or the QX3. Then near the end of production, the QX3 ran out and Q9V was the only chrome available.

The way I remember it chrome became available in late Jan early Feb 06. I picked my car up at BG on 23 Jan and the chrome wheels were not available as an option until a week or two later.
