Default Low beam replacement help

The ballast went bad on my grandsport. Does the bumper cover have to come off or can it be accessed by removing the tire and getting behind the inner fender?

2011 owner's manual, pages 10-48 and 10-49.

The low beam high intensity
discharge lighting system
operates at a very high voltage.
If you try to service any of the
system components, you could
be seriously injured. Have your
dealer or a qualified technician
service them.

If the low-beam headlamp needs
to be replaced, see your dealer.
See High Intensity Discharge (HID)
Lighting on page 10‑48 for more
information.

As mentioned, use extreme caution and understand what you're doing. Some here have replaced the ballast but I think most leave it to a dealer. Good luck.

I say if the ballast did go out have a dealer replace it under warranty.

It's a 2011 right? That should be under warranty.

If your ballast is bad which is rather soon you can get to it from under the front air dam. Remove the air dam and plastic extention where the brake duct is located and look up toward the hood and you will see the bottom of the headlight assembly. The shiny square thing is the ballast. Use a 7mm socket on the 4 screws that hold it on.

It's a fair amount of effort so make sure it's your ballast first.

Thanks for the replies , ballast was bad and needed replacement. Was able to access from under car without having to touch bumper cover.
