so i plan to get headers in the near future for my 05 c6 a4..i want the
1 3/4..i currently have an intake along with a custom straight pipe exhaust with the factory h pipe..my questions is when ordering headers will i need to buy an x pipe with cats or can i just buy the 1 3/4 headers alone..would i see much gains off this or to get the full potential i would need to buy the x pipe with the cats aswell...i dont plan on tunning it just yet after or would i need a tune after the headers are installed?

All headers I know have the x-pipe and no way to run headers with -out the x-pipe! It's part of the headers!
Yes because you can't use your stock cats, you'll also need o2 sensor extention wires and a tune to make it run right without throwing codes. Catted header Xpipes will bolt to your stock muffler package.
i would prefer cats..and does the system come with the o2 senser or thats seperate..so then a tune would be pretty much mandatory after the headers are installed

it's not mandatory, but the probability of you throwing an O2 sensor code is high. I just put headers on and it happened to me yesterday. Of course, the tool to clear said codes is pretty cheap.
