UK Conversion
Even though its years away, its something I've always wondered about.

Very expensive proposition. The above link will take you to a link posted by someone who already did it.

My C6 was successfully modified for compliance with UK DVLA standards when I shipped it into the country in September 2008. I've since moved home and my car retains all it's UK functions.
Firstly, you do not need to purchase the overpriced, unattractive euro-sepc taillights with the orange wedge indicators. Secondly, you don't need to purchase euro spec headlights with the right hand beam cutoff.
To pass MOT, I had to disable the amber daytime running lights in the front lenses. As you may know, amber in the UK is reserved for turn signals. At the rear of the car, I incorporated an amber bulb into each of the clear reverse-light housings and wired my turn signals into them. Now, when I engage my turn signals, they work as normal up front, and flash amber at either side in the rear reverse-light housings. My tail lights no longer flash as signals, and work simply as brake and tails.
You'll also need a rear fog light that is red in color. I wired my 3rd brake light in the spoiler to work independently of my brakes, as the 3rd brake light is not mandatory in the UK. It now comes on when I engage my front fogs, which I'll be using when it's foggy anyways. There is no need to be able to engage your front fogs independently of the rear red fog light, as driving with your front fogs on in the absence of actual fog is illegal and strictly enforced. Engaging your rear fog light in the presence of any fog is also mandatory by law. Therefore there is no need to seperate the two.
At the sides of the car, you'll need to mount some manner of marker light that will act as side-view turn signals. I mounted an oval shaped, amber LED light at the trailing edge of each front fender, right at the door gap about mid-way up, with 3M adhesive.
For headlights, your passenger side light can be adjusted downward just enough to drop the cutoff below the mandatory line. The UK MOT inspectors have a special box they wheel up to your front end with a convex glass lens that will determine where your cutoff is. My car was able to pass by simply adjusting the right beam down. This did not affect my ability drive at night whatsoever. The corvette's lights are plenty bright.
So, for a simple rundown:
1. Disable amber front running lights / use only as turn signals
2. Install amber side marker lights / turn signals
3. Install amber rear turn signals, either by purchasing Euro-spec tail lamps or by incorporating your amber bulbs into your lower reverse housings
4. Install red rear fog lamp, either down low between the tail pipes, or incorporate it into your 3rd brake lamp. Actuate either by wiring it into your front fogs so that it engages when turning the fog-light collar on your turn signal stalk, or via independant switch.
5. Adjust pass. side headlight to bring beam cutoff to legal height.
Hope this helps. If you opt to take this route, I can give you the exact MOT shop where I had this conversion completed, and certified. It's about 2 hours north of London in the Mildenhall area of Suffolk county.
