Well,it has been a great summer enjoying the vette and mustang, going to car shows and just fun driving these cars all summer but in less than a month they both have to be put to sleep ...I always put my cars away the last day of october to be sure i don:t get caught in a heavy frost and SALT on the roads.I wait until april first to get them going again to ensure no chance of salt being on the roads.I only put 6000klms on the mustang this summer and 7oooklms on the vette.I wish i could drive them a bit more but long hours of work make that not possable yet. I am going to miss them (Back to the winter beater) :
I hear ya...I did the winter sleep years back for the vette but now a days...after my third vette...i just enjoy them all through the winter months as well.
I wash the car every week and enjoy driving all year round..
No sense in babying this thing. GM builds them for year round usage so I'm taking advantage of every day...
the only time I don't drive is the day of the snow storm.
In my opinion lifes too short to waste time not doing everything I can to enjoy the ride!
I totally understand where you are coming from and respect your choice.
OMG So glad I live in Texas. Get to drive my vette all year long and play golf all year long too. I also love to be able to wear shorts in the January and Febuary months. Why live where its snows. PASS

There's a lot more to life than Vettes. Living in Colorado, we welcome the four seasons - especially after having lived in Florida and Arizona for so many years. The Vette will come out, as will the 930 on nice days. When it's not good enough for a ride for some time, the heated garage is a wonderful place where the cars can be transformed with new goodies for the next "season". Seasons of hot and hotter, been there - done that.
In Chicago? Let me guess....you had a snow plow atttached.
No snowplow needed Bruce. PirelliWinter 240 Sottozero snow tires or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP, and a knowledge of driving a rear wheel drive vehicle in the snow will work.
I grew up in W PA in the 50s and learned the last skill quit well. The flatlands of Chicago are a piece of cake compared to the hills around Pittsburgh.
That is a horrible thought but I guess us northerners have to face the music. I don't live by the calendar though, I live by the weather. I will drive in the cold as long as the roads are clear. Once they get their snow and salt load, I'm done! That happened in early December last year. Came outa mothballs in mid-March. (Still too long!)
Roads were clear but a little dusty. As you can see, the snow was not completely gone yet.
