Default Questions regarding $77 XM pricing

For those of you that got the $77 annual price, was it for the XM Select or Premier? Also, did the $77 price include the "US Royalty" fee or did you have to pay an addtional $1.40 a month plus addtional taxes? My free subscription runs out in a couple of weeks.

I don't know if there is a difference between Sirius and XM now that they are together but I just renewed my Sirius subscription on my MB and I paid $88.00 for a year including royalty fees. If that helps.

Got the $77 deal for three years. That was the premier package. There was no Royalty fees then. 2006-2009. In 2009 I lost the fight and dropped to Mostly Music @ $99 a year plus all kinds a fees including the Royalty.

If this is your first or second time, you may get the $77 plus fees tax.

Most important---DON"T USE YOUR CREDIT CARD.

Good luck,
Rich

Yes, don't use your credit card. I took the 5 month deal for $25 a while back. I told them not to automatically renew. They did it anyhow and charged me $91.84 for 6 months. I got nowhere trying to get a credit back. They finally agreed to prorate the charge. I didn't know about it until I got my credit card bill. The actual charge was 4 weeks ago. So, they're going to issue credit for $70. = about $20 for a month. They said it's my responsibility to cancel before they automatically charge my account. Screw them, I'm back to CD's and the radio!

I recently got $140 for two cars for a full year ($70/car). That was the total price. I don't know what they called the package (Select, Premier, or whatever) but I get all channels.

Default Questions regarding $77 XM pricing

$77 doesn't seem near enough. They should be paying you much more to listen to XM.

FWIW, look into the lifetime subscription. I have it and it was $499.00. You can spread the payments out for 5 months. It costs around $75 to change the subscription over to a new car if you later change cars. I haven't changed cars yet but no longer worry about renewing, additonal charges to my credit card, increase in prices, discounts, etc.

I bought the lifetime in 2008 for my Denali, and when I sold it I tried to transfer to the vet and offered to pay but they said that was not an option. So I replaced the Radio and now use Pandora.

Love to know why they wouldn't transfer it. I was all set to go lifetime.

That stinks. I would have popped for the $500 without question.

Here's my story:

For whatever reason, I could not find anything on the lifetime subscription in writing anywhere. I ended up calling XM to discuss term options and they still did not bring up the subject of a lifetime subscription. That is when I asked if it was still offered. They said yes and then told me the price with the option of having the $499 price paid in 4 or 5 installments (no interest). So, I opted for that. But, before paying, I asked about changing the service to another vehicle and they said that yes this was no problem, but that there would be a transfer fee of $75 to get the service to another radio. This sounded great to me and I wrote down the name of the person that I spoke with and the date of the call. Now, sometime later I did have to call back to inquire as to having another subscription or something and inquired as to changing my service from my vette to my daily driver. The person I was speaking with said that this wasn't an option and I said oh yes it was. They asked me who told me this and when so I gave them the person's name and date of signing up for the lifetime. They then said that I could transfer the service for the $75 fee. However, I did not go through with the transfer but ended up keeping the service in my vette.

Bottom line, it may be that all XM representatives are not up on what a lifetime subscription includes or they try to not permit transfers when they think they can get away with it. Who knows!

I used to get the "ZWINBACK" ($77) deal, over and over and over. Finally they said, "No more." I said, "Buh BYE!"
Coupla months later, they send me an offer for $59/yr. I took it.
It ran out then they offered me 5mos for $25. I did this a few times. Finally, they offered me 90days free. I took. I forgot to write down when to cancel before the regular rate kicks in. I cancelled 1 month early, and they sent me a check for $18.47!

They paid me $18 to listen to their add laden programs for 60 days! Not near enough...

I'm fairly new to XM, and got a one year for $56 total. I have to say though, it's been a love/hate relationship. In the first two months, I got 3 automated calls saying my subscription was being dropped for non-payment. Call them back after the first two, nicely, and explain they're screwed up on their end and I bought a one year package. Each time, I could have used a translator and I swear the people on the other end of the line had no synapses connecting. The third time was the charm for me. Before calling back, I looked at my account online for the first time, and it said a SIX month subscription - not the year. When I called back, I was a bit hot and asked for a manager. Once I got the first manager, I had to then ask him for one that spoke English. Finally I got someone and gave him hell about the multiple calls and the six month aspect. After rattling his cage, he assured me it wouldn't happen again, and it hasn't...........yet. They also sent me a coupon so if/when I renew after the twelve months - it will be the same $56 for the next year.

Definate love/hate situation, but hopefully fixed for the better. Oh ya, and don't give them your cc, have them bill you.

Good job, Mike! Go ahead and get it in writing. Like I said, the lifetime subscription is the way to go if you know you like XM (I have the Sirius programming package because I prefer Sirius - possible since the merger). $500 seems like a lot of money up front but if you stay with XM any length of time, you will see how those yearly and monthly fees just continue to add up. Before you know it, you have paid a lifetime subscription and are still paying for terms of service.

Good luck
