Default Build Date

I was wondering if someone could help me out with a question. I want to find the actual build date for my 2005 coupe. I have the build sheet but I do not see a date on it. Can anyone tell me how to find the build date? Thanks for your help.

You could make a quick and dirty guess. The last few digits of your VIN is the sequence number. The production run for 2005s was 37,372 or about 3,115 a month. Divide your VIN's sequence number by 3115 and you'll have an estimate of the month. Production started in July 2004 I think, but may have been later for verts.

For an even quicker and dirtier guess, just look at the sticker on the drivers door. It says what month the car was built in, but not what day(which is what the OP asked for).

Post your VIN and perhaps one of the forum vendors with access to the GMVIS will tell you what it is.

I wanted to know the same thing.. I asked Dennis Fichtner at dfichtner@fichtnerchevrolet.com.. I provided him my VIN and he provided me with a GMVIS report which gave me the build date..

Bad assumption on my part, sorry. The door stickers are missing on a lot of cars, and are a month later than the "actual" build date on many of them. I read the post too quickly and didn't realize that "actual" meant "exact".

For what it's worth, the build sheet for a 2005 doesn't have the build date on it. Only the order entry date. A dealer or some of the nice folks on the forum could probably get you a build date if you give them the VIN.
