Default C6 Seat Kit Versus Heavy Duty Seat Foam???

Which one will help my saggy seats get firm once again??

Other than the price, I don't know whether DJMotorsport versus JDMotoring is better???

There's a nice $20 price difference here...

CORRECTION: 39.95 versus 69.95 = $30 difference...

Well having DJM's installed this Wed, so I will give some feedback. It is a whole new bottom and sitting on it in the middle of the LR floor says it will handle 236#s for awhile. I may have the upholsterer add a little tail bone piece. We'll see.

It is a professionally built whole seat piece that for $20 more seems a bargain. No disparaging meant for JDM since I have only seen the pics. By way cost for install is $30.

It all depends on how the new foam piece is constructed. If it has additional material to fill the space around the seat controls and the seat frame and something to keep the edge of the seat frame from cutting it right at the point you sit on the cushion it will be fine. If not then you may still need the stuff from the other kit. Stiffer foam without filling the voids and preventing the cutting/tearing will just go the same way the stock foam does.

I did the JWMotoring kit several months ago before the other piece hit the market. The kit definitely pops the bolster up to fill the seat skin properly.

Comparing mine in hand against the JWM pic, the respective places are filled, leather to prevent the wire edge cutting, pad to protect on coils. Can't comment on quality of foam but will say it looks like a well thought out and professionally done piece

I don't think it is a matter of which is best. If your stock seat cushion is really abused adding more support may not rescue it. Then the new foam piece may be the way to go as long as it provides the support the kit provides. If your stock cushion is in good shape then the kit may be all you need to get it where it should be.

When I did mine the dealer had already replaced the original foam cushion and the replacement one was starting to push down inside the frame. When I got the seat apart I saw where the edge of the seat frame had cut the cushion. The problem with the stock seat isn't the foam but the seat frame which doesn't support the foam properly. You can add foam to make up for the lack of frame support but the problem will always exist.

If it is any interest the 2012 seat bottom frame seems to have some changes that might correct the issue. Parts Taxi offers a couple of kits to convert to the 2012 seat and the seat bottom frame is part of one kit. Might be worth a call to Kevin to find out what the change was.

I did the new foam, and so far am glad I did. Good piece ... denser foam than OEM, leather in the spots the frame cuts into, etc. My old foam was probably not salvageable ... the frame had cut it almost in two along the outer edge. My only complaint is that I seem to sit a bit higher than I used to (makes sense, thinking about it). All in all, well worth the $70.

My opinion is that the "rebuild" kit is probably a good deal for newer cars where the OEM foam is still in good shape. The new foam is a better deal for older cars (mine is an '07 daily-driver) where the OEM foam is likely beat to death.

Our kit was designed for the worn foam and the new foam (prevents sagging and cutting into the foam). Of course you can do both. If you do expect to sit a little high until you've broken the foam in a bit.

Good point. If your foam is really bad replace it first.

Well I had mine installed today by an upholsterer. Cost $30 and it took him longer to take the seat out then to finish than reinstall.

Now my car is a month old so the "old" foam is new. However, you could see the wear marks in the back of the seat, where the 1 1'2" springs gave front to rear spring, had started to wear through the OEM foam.

I asked my guy to see if he could place some support under the tailbone area. He actually placed some carpet pad in the area of those springs to protect the foam and also in the valley just aft of this to give some more support.

Net this seat is firm and new. Sort of like our new Tempur Pedic mattress was. It will break in nicely though. He was impressed with the overall quality of the seat replacement.

Now honestly having a new seat I could have used the JW Mortoring piece as well. I decided that I just wanted to do this once the way it should have been from the factory. Be prepared to adjust mirror for the temporary added height but I love it.

Actually it is a normal piece used by upholsterers. Also called jute.

If you see the wear pattern on the "old" piece it will be obvious that protection will give you longevity. Why wouldn't you?

If you don't have the remains of a motorcycle accident with broken vertebrae and tailbone, then you don't need the added support in the aft tunnel area. You do need to see the damage these springs do to the foam. Heck just glue some leather in the area.

I just used your kit on my 76,000 mile DD 07. Surprised at how little damage there was to the original foam. Kit did fill it up and firm it up.
Happy customer here.
