Just rec'd a letter stating the hinges on the Rear Hatch may need to be replaced......anyone else here of this or get the notice. I didn't see any other threads on this. This has sh-t storm written all over it, as far as Dealer having to put his paws on it.
I understand your fear about having the car "touched", but you trust your dealer's service shop with far more than hatch hinges, don't you? Like brakes, engine, etc.? Even oil changes? At my dealer (Bill Stasek Chevrolet, Wheeling, IL), the recall work is being done by their dedicated Corvette mechanic, who is a good guy with a long track record, and the GM recall message to the dealers includes DETAILED instructions as to EXACTLY how to do the work.
