I have a set of wheels that I did a small repair on. They are HRE wheels if that makes anything different. They are a clear coated brushed aluminum finish. I have the clear coat line from where the tape was masking the rest of the wheel. The question I have is removal of the line. This is a photo of my question
I was figuring I would have to wet sand them but that aluminum sure is soft so I was going to ask some people who knew a little more than I did. Thanks for the input
You need a minimum of 3000 or 2500 to blend that line.
Tape about 1 inch ABOVE the clearcoat line, this will keep you from messing up the finish above the repair.
Wet the sandpaper and the area you are going to sand, and just go slowly..dry the area every 20-30 seconds and check your progress..rewet the area and sand again if needed.
Use some Trizact compound to rub out the sand marks.

Thannks!! I just did not want to recommend too aggresive a grit. Can always go a little more aggresive. Better to error on side of caution.
Well I decided to go get some supplies from the body shop I use here in town. He said bring him the wheel and he would do it for free. So the professionals will be doing this. Thanks for the advice though. Im sure it will help someone in the future
