For anyone who has removed there interior door panels
Here is a question for anyone here that has removed there interior door panels (maybe you replaced your door speakers).
Were you able to re-use all the plastic door panel retainers again when you reinstalled the panel ... or did you break some of these and need to buy new ones?
Trim Panel Grommet with Sealer, Corvette
GM P/N: 10351052
$8.60 (package of 15)

Thank's for the reply.
Do you think you could have re-used those original pins if you had too ... or did some of them actually break removing them?
Ron,
(I guess I will need a bunch of both of the 2 styles of pins I show in the 2 photos above) ?

Removed both door panels to replace the twiddler speakers. None of the pins or receivers broke so I reused them all. If you take your time and follow some of the techniques used on the Forum you should be ok. Many of us purchased extra pins and receivers prior to removing the panels as a precaution. That way the panels don't have to remain off in the event a pin breaks and you have to order the parts.

I did break 2 pins. I was also told it was better to replace all pins...makes a tighter connection with less chance of rattels.
I have taken the panels off since then and did not break any pins. also reused them with no problems.
Like posted above it is good insurance to have a few on hand.
Check with Parts Taxi for best price.

I broke one. It actually broke when the door panel slipped out of my hand and landed on one of the pins. The others are holding the panel on just fine.

$8.60 for 15 ... why take a chance on a rattle?
I seen the day when I would pay $50/$100 to get rid of an anoying rattle. Of course there are those that would prefer to just turn up the radio, I just am not one of them. $50k - $100k spent on car, $10 bucks to eliminate the possiblity of a rattle, hum, let me think about that.

Racer, it's fantastic that you work in body shops that continue to contact their customers after repairs were made and inquired about any rattles. With practice, I am sure you professionals can perform dissassembly with surgeon like skills.
I have often been confronted with a "problem" that is intermitment and is might near impossible for me to expect the repair shop to fix something that does not present itself when I take it back to them. But I guess saving $10 bucks is $10 bucks even when you have to spend $7.00 in gas taking it back.

Funny , when I removed my panels there were a couple broken @ each door. Only ones who had ever removed the panels were the stereo guys. Hummm I wonder, naw they couldn't have broken them. Must of came that way from the factory.

I have had my panels off several times and reused the old pins. My doors rattled almost from the beginning. In my C5 I put 3/16"s weatherstripping in between the pins because those doors really rattled. Worked like a charm, never got another rattle.
The C6 has a very slight rattle and at high volumes(High enough people come running and screaming out of their homes because they think the band is going by live ) I get a rattle at the top of the panel at the front. So this weekend I am going to put in the weatherstripping

There are 8 clips on each door. I just replaced all of them. I have had the door panels off multiple times. When I checked the manual it said to replace if removed more than twice. When it came back from the body shop one of the clips wouldn't snug down all the way. I decided to remove the door panel myself and check things out. (Worked my way through college working in a body shop, but clips didn't look like that back then ) It made a big difference when I replaced them. Much better grab and hold with new clips.

Looking at the photos I posted above, you can see that there are 2 different styles of these plastic fasteners.
I guess there is pretty much an equal amout of each of these 2 types in each door panel?
Ron,
