Before anyone says it I know it's like beating a dead horse but this time it's my horse. I had the free year of XM with my 2010 GS. That was up in June I think and I was going to not renew it. I get this letter for 5 months for $25 , I only drive it till around November anyway so I take the deal. They take my card and say it's going to auto renew unless I call and cancel. It was due to renew in a couple of days so I called to cancel. I was put on hold for 23 minutes. As I am sitting on hold I go to their web site and get on a live chat with them and explain that as we chat I am on hold waiting to speak to a live, preferably English speaking person. They are sorry but can not help with canceling my service however they give me the direct number to call to do that. I call the "direct" number, after 45 minutes on hold I gave up. It cost me $5 but I sent them a registered letter telling them what they can do with their service. I was going to renew in the spring but not any more not with that kind of customer service. Sorry this is so long I just had to tell someone.
they suck. did this to me exact same hold times. cost me a 100.00 to give them a permanant going away present. When my free subscription expires I WILL NOT renew.
Pandora works great for me anyways.
I called about 45 days before my renewal, waited for maybe 5 minutes and got mine canceled with no issues (other than cutting off the customer retention schpiel).
I don't think it's worth ~100 bucks a year as a music service but never had issues with customer service.
Some here have had more luck canceling by calling a "special" cancel phone number, but I didn't save it and don't remember what it was. Maybe someone will respond with it for forum members who want to cancel.
We like XM, but their customer service is almost enough to drive us away.

This is why it's been posted here many, MANY times - never, ever give XM a credit card number! They'll auto-renew you at a ridiculous rate and once they do, there's not much you can do about it. It's tough to imagine any company being run by a bigger group of idiots than XM. The people at the top obviously have no pride or scruples.

We survive in the real world just fine by not clicking on CF threads that do not appear to be worth our oh so very valuable time.
And, in the little corner of the real world known as XM, we never, ever give them a credit card and we tell other CF members about this rule often.
