Side vents
If they do something, what do they let cool air into or or let hot air out of? The front vents have a very small hole at the front bottom and the rear vents had a tunnel turning into the body.
I had a chance to look at a Z06 on a lift yesterday and I could nto see any cool/hot air ducts in the engine bay or around the rear of the brakes or transaxle.
Georg
so yes, they do move some air, but are the necessary?
Many will tell you that at very high speeds they serve to balance the car out - air will be coming in thru the underside and extracted by the side scoops, and at very high speeds the pressure variance will be balanced by the hood scoop holes...
Personally I think they are there mostly for the looks. Yes, they do move some air so they aren't "fake" like on so many cars these days, but this could have been more easily achieved by less "visual" methods...
Anyway, INO: functional "yes", necessary "no"
