The wife took the vette out today for a ride, 2008 GS wide body conversion with Z06 wheels and she said it darted around and wanted to pull... The last time I drove it was a couple of weeks ago to OCMD for the Corvette show. I know the tires (Goodyear run flats) just passed inspection this last time, but I too noticed it seemed to dart more when you hit a rough area of the road...
Opinions are like... well... as everone has one, but what tire should I look at moving to, I am not track driving this car as the wife puts more miles on than I do.
Also, would worn tires cause some of these conditions. The pulling could be an alignment, the darting around on rough roads is a concern...
If it's a genuine pull from bad alignment it will do it all the time, and won't be intermittent.
The darting around could be surface and tires - i.e. tramlining - or it could also be alignment related as well.
If your comment that your tires "just passed inspection" means you've got a lot of wear on the tires, then it's probably a good time to put some skins on and check the alignment (which is a good thing to do any time you put new tires on anyway).
Had the same problem with my 2010 GS with 15,000 miles on it. Had it aligned early on after I lowered it a little so I know the align was good but it was always darty and got progressively worst and started following every irregularity in the road as the tires wore. Was not a pleasant drive. So I installed a set of Michelin Pilot Sport ZP's (run flats) on the front only. Rears were still only 1/2 gone so I left them on. The difference was dramatic. Drives better than it did when it was new with new Good Years. Also much quieter even with the rears not changed. Will be replacing the rears soon, even before they are needed just to get the improvement.
you need a good alignment and you need to watch that more than once a set of tires. hit a pothole the day after an alignment, and you could need one again. or just a new set of tires prematurely. but you already know that. it is not a set it once, and forget it. just like air pressure or putting in gas.
Thanks for the input... On Point you seem to hit it! The car just darts around following what ever inperfection is in the road.
Okay, new sneakers and alignment this week... now.... what to choose!
as to tires, let's see: you're near Harrisburg, get all the seasons, plus cold and rain but not as bad as the Erie area. I'd say go for the slightly less hot-day traction of all out summer tires, and get something like the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 runflat all season like this: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....+A%2FS+Plus+ZP.
it isn't inexpensive but neither is life and limb. and since you've been on here since '05, I'd expect that you've read the numerous positive posts and threads in C6 Gen re these tires by folks like Gearhead Jim, et al. you have, haven't you?

OP said he has a wide body with Z06 wheels so I'm guessing that he also has Z06 size tires on his car also. If that is so, there is not A/S tire available(in the Z06 sizes). I would recommend he look at the Michelin PS2 ZP or the Bridgestone RE050A runflats. I have the Bridgestones and they are WAY better then the OE Goodyears. Still need to take it careful in the cold, as they can be slippery, but not as bad as the Goodyear's.
