I was going to buy a Hurst shifter but read somewhere the MGW shifters are better. Do any of you have any of the MGW short shifters installed on your cars?
Thank you, Paul
all of the above are correct. MGW... the only way to go. Couple that with a Nakid Parts **** which is drilled deeper and you will have the shortest most precise shift available. Installation instructions are great. Video available. All the parts fit and the action is smooth and precise.
If you are driving a pre-LS3 an aftermarket shifter might help a bit; but if you own a 2008 or latter model you would be far better off simply learning how to shift you existing short throw shifter properly.
I can't say enough good things about MGW. I ordered one and the Installation video on cd included was extremely clear and easy to follow.
I pulled it apart and had it back together in under an hour. What a huge difference. I had my doubts about what a difference it would make, and it even impressed my son, who said I want one too!!!

Dis-agree. I have a 2008 and the MGW shifter was a BIG improvement over the stock shifter.
A quality shifter engineered to perfection that engages gears more precisely with out missing. The owner of MGW is very gracious and answered all my concerns over the phone. Installation kit comes with a DVD to help the process. Here's my 08 C6 during the install. by me. Notice I didn't need to disconnect the wires. .

I also disagree. I first put an MGW shifter in my 2005, huge improvement. I put one in my 2011, again highly recommend this mod.

1. Is there a preferred retailer where you purchased your MGW Shifter
2. Did you opt for retaining the original OEM shift ****, or did you purchase an aftermarket?
3. Love to see some photos
Thanks
In the late spring take a weeks vacation. Drive down to Augusta and have George do the install at the factory. Bring your golf clubs if you play golf. Or, do the Dragon's tail on the way back.
I bought my car from the original owner and he had installed an MGW shifter. I don't know if it was the early design or the newer design, but it works very well. He gave me the stock shifter in case I wanted to go back. Here is a pretty good article on installing the MGW.
