One item you should do is call your insurance agent and have your car placed in a non-drive mode. That will save you a lot of cash and still keep basic coverage, Fire, thieft, on it.
Here in Northern California all we have to do is stay low (in elevation) and avoid the snow which is easy -- as long as we stay below 4000 feet elevation.

Depends if you have a lien on it or not. Most lending institutes require full coverage all year long no matter if the vehicle is stored or not. You insurance company will have a Tickler in their system which instructs them what to allow.
Vehicles that have no lien....... absolutely do this. I do this to all my toys.

I have State Farm and I make payments on my vette.
And yes I can call my agent and tell them I have the vette in storage and save a lot of money.
Why would you need collision coverage if your car is parked in a garage??
I don't think many owners even drive their Corvette in the SUMMER!
Actually I keep plates and insurance active in case there is a stretch of weather and good roads when I can get some driving in. Last year it never happened. Hoping for a milder winter but forecast is otherwise.

Just saying it happens.
My brother has a 2012 Mustang GT with a lien through FordMoCo and he also has StateFarm but his lien requires that he carries "full coverage" regardless if his car is stored or not.
this CF is amazing, a person shares some info they have and gets chastised for it.
Winter?? Crap...now I have to dig out a hoodie to wear when the transparent roof is off on those bone chilling 50 degree early morning drives through the canyons...Dang it!!!

She once backed through the garage door and blamed me because my side was open. I guess she thought it was hers open???
