Default Goodyear Run flats tire tread at new?

Can somebody tell me what the tire tread depth is on a new OE Goodyear F1 on the Grand Sport is? I measured mine today and at 5000 miles, I have about 5/32 left. Even less in the center.

8/32 max. So that means you have 6/32 of useful tread until they reach replacement depth. Most of the competing tires have 10/32 tread depth. The tread depth is the main reason the GYs don't last as long as others. It is also why they handle better than the others when comparing new tire to new tire. Usually, the shallower the tread depth the better the handling.

Sounds like your pressure is too high if they are wearing faster in the center. My GS is also at 5k miles with 6/32s left (verified with tire depth gauge. It doesn't matter where on the tread or which tire. I did have it aligned at 1500 miles. You should complain to your dealer if you haven't already.

Don't even think about getting the Mich Cup tire as their tread depth starts around 6/32s.

I believe Bill Dearborn is correct, it's 8/32" and most competitors are @ 10/32"

I am a fanatic about my air pressure being at 30 PSI. I am adjusting the pressure monthly as the temperatures change. I guess I need to get the alignment checked.

These tires are the worst. I got 6000 miles and the dealer couldn't understand it and gave me new ones. Another 6000 I ordered the bridgestone potenza pole positions run flats . They have been great. The handling is like night and day even in the rain. I have 16,000 miles on them. They are quiet no all over the road etc. I would never use the goodyear again ecven if they were free !

Sorry, I think there may be some incorrect information about tread depth in this thread.

Base C6s without the Z51 tires are 10/32" on the front tires and 11/32" of tread on the rear tires. Base C6s with the Z51 have tires with 9/32" of tread on all 4 tires.

Aren't the the GS tires the same as the ones on Z51-equipped base C6s?

Shopped around on the internet for prices including tire rack. Then I called Mavis Tires and they gave me the best price. They are also local in New York. They ordered the tires and called when they came in. They were good. Someone was selling the Goodyear OEM new for 500.00 and i said NO WAY ! The bridgestones are so good. I used to dread driving my car in the rain. Now I drive it in the rain at normal speed. Let me know if u get them and what u think.,
