Default jackiing pucks

Will jacking pucks for a C5 work with a C6 or do you need ones specifically made for a C6?

Since both are only hockey pucks with an eye bolt screwed into it, they should work on either model. The shipping/tie down slots on the cars is the same. They are used to secure the vehicle to the truck/train transporting them.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you make yours out of? What material did you use? Thanks.

I went to a skating rink nearby that was used for youth ice hockey and I bought rubber hockey pucks from their pro shop. I would assume you can buy the hockey pucks from any big Sporting Goods store such as Academy. They work great being a very hard rubber and you can easily drill the centers to thread the eye hooks into. You only need to buy four pucks. Instructions on the Forum many years ago suggested using pairs of pucks at each lifting point on the frame rail.

So, do you make them so that they go down into the hole in the frame? I measured it and it is oblong- about 2" by 2 1/4 " around. Or do you just set them on the frame outside the holes when you jack the car up? Thanks again.

One of my neighbors is looking for some leftover composite decking scraps from the deck he built.

According to a CF DIY thread eleven years ago that I saved, the eye bolts are 5/16" diameter self tapping type. Use a 1/4" pilot hole drilled thru the centers of the pucks and buy eye bolts that have threaded shanks no longer than the thickness of a puck. I seem to recall that I ground off the tips of the eye bolts that slightly protruded to the opposite side of the pucks. The eye bolt eyelets sticking up into the frame rail openings and rotated keep the pucks from moving out of position.

I originally made my hockey pucks for my C5. When I got my C6 Z I had to back out the eyebolts about an 1/8" because of the aluminum frames greater wall thickness. With the steel framed C6, the hockey pucks will transfer directly.

There is a difference in the billet aluminum pucks made for the C5/C6 and the C6Z. As JoseC5 states, the thickness of the frame wall is thicker on the C6Z, therefore the C5/C6 billet pucks wont "twist" into place on C6Z. To the OP, save yourself some major $$$ and make them out of hockey pucks as we have. They work fine.

**EDIT** Just looked at the OP's post where he didn't state if the car was a Z. If it's not a Z, the C5 pucks should work in the C6. As many have stated, make your own and save some $$$.

Good point. With the DIY hockey pucks, you can always adjust the eye bolt thread engagement in the puck for the eyelet to fit into the frame rail hole and rotate to lock in.

I have made several sets for friends. I just check with the local hockey rinks and they will usually just give me their old practice pucks. Another $3 for #2 eye screws and you have custom adjustable jacking pucks for your C-5 or C-6.

I have been thinking about drilling the Jack Pad where the puck sets and using a longer eye screw which would protrude into the metal part of the jack pad to prevent any possibility of the puck slipping off the pad. It won't slip out of the frame rail because it is locked. May be overkill but better than a $1,000 fender replacement.
