Default Heat

Took the GS out today, 49 degrees adjusted the heat to 70 and it blows cool air. Turned it up to 80 got heat; back to 70 cold again. Ran it to 90 plenty of heat (too much). The problem seems to be the electronic control because the higher u go the hotter it gets, but the heat doesn't start till around 80 on the dial. I am hoping that it's just a computer program adjustment. Seems to be about 10 degrees above norm. I did noticed during the summer that 70 on A/C was pretty cold, but I never complain when it's hot outside and the A/C works good. Hoping it's an easy fix. Anyone with knowledge of how the sys functions?

Thanks

You might have something broken, but...
The system seems to work that way until the temperature stabilizes, then the numbers get more accurate. We've had a 2006 and now a 2009, both seem the same. But that will often take 30 minutes during the winter.

The heater control can act dumb sometimes, but did you remember to force off the a/c?

Maybe you're being a little hard on your poor ol' thermostat. It's only trying to help. To me, the question is not what number is on the thermostat or outside air temp, but do I feel good? If I don't, I change the thermostat a couple-three degrees until I do. I don't think of the thermostat setting as a scientific super-accurate temperature; it's just an arbitrary number that's not an end in itself, only a guide to remind you where to set it in order to feel good.

75 to 78 is fine for most days. Lately, 78 seems to be too hot and 75 is just right. On cold days, I go as low as 70 so the floor vents don't overheat my feet on long trips. If it's cold and I just have to have the roof off, I'll crank it up to 90 and that makes it tolerable with warm clothes.

The engine and exhausts radiate considerable heat into the cabin. If the outside ambient temperature is in the 50s and the thermostat is set to 70, my C6 will have to blow slightly cool air just to maintain that temperature.

My '09 z06 did that to me coming back from a road trip to south dakota. I kept having to adjust the controls up and down for like 1500 mile trip.

When I got back home I took it to the dealer and they replaced some actuators under warranty and that corrected that problem.

The same thing has been happening in my 1993 T-Bird. About three days ago I noticed the radiator antifreeze overflow bucket was really low, so I added some. Yesterday, I noticed a small puddle of antifreeze under the car right beneath the overflow bucket. A lot of times when your heater messes up like that it is because there is air in the water line. You might want to check that out, too. Good luck!!
