So I guess this problem is a known issue with the C6. GM is replacing my top for the third time under factory warranty. It seems to happen yearly to me.
Anyone else having this issue? The GM rep told me that this problem is due to the heat.
My bumper to bumper warranty runs out in January. I like the dark top look so I guess I'll opt for the painted black roof and halo combo.
I can't afford to replace my transparent roof once the warranty expires.

Has anyone had GM replace their top yearly under warranty?
I would think that if this is an issue that many people are having they would correct it.
That's logical to expect that the company is trying to remedy the problem. But it has persisted from what I can tell for years.
If it were me, I'd ask the question of Chevrolet: "If this problem persists and DOESN'T occur in one year's time after I get a new one (presumably, the length of warranty on a new top---could be shorter though), will you still cover it at no cost, beyond my GMPP or bumper to bumper warranty?" I don't see why you have to select the other top just to keep it from cracking and being a cost to you. You got a top that was supposed to be free of defects. jmo.
And there below from Jim, and Ed are the answers esp. that the warranty is 1 year.
What if you bought one from Gene or Parts taxi and this happens? Will they step up and replace them? Hasn't happened to me, I take my clear top off in the summer, just because I scared it will start this crazing issue .

...
If not under the 3/36 warranty, you're probably screwed unless someone is feeling generous. Even the GMPP extended warranty does not cover "glass" or "body panels", so it didn't pay when our C5 top started to crack at around 50k miles.
...our 2006 had three of them each crack within 5k miles of being installed, the fourth top lasted over 20k miles and was still good when we sold the car. All covered under the 3/36 warranty.
And our 2009 transparent top did not crack, but it came off the lot with crazing and ripples on the outer surface. Replaced under warranty, 2 yrs/30k miles later it's still good.

GM parts purchased over the counter from a Gm dealer come with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Cheers,

If this is a known product issue, and based on your repair history, I would think that GM would replace the roof under goodwill, should you continue to have the issue.
I have had my roof replaced 1 time for this issue. So far, so good, but my car sets in the garage all the time. Not sure of the root cause of the problem. I really though this was fixed back in the 2007 MY. Guess not?
I was at a car show a few months ago and a guy with a newer Corvette was taking his glass top off of his car and mentioned that it had just started glazing about a month before. I think it always has been a problem. That's why I wanted to make sure that I had a colored top when I bought my car. Maybe I should forget about buying one of these if they are such a problem. Thanks for the info.
I wonder if there is a chance that the top could shatter if you just went ahead and left it glazed and never got a new one. Do you think they would bust apart or shatter eventually?

They can be a problem, but they also make the car much brighter inside and are lighter to remove/install. We bought our 2009 with the transparent top despite have 3 replacement tops needed (all under warranty) on our 2006.

That must be possible, but I have not yet heard of it happening.
