Squeaky brake question
The one thing I did notice was the forward mounting ears on the pads showed minor rusting on the corners. Obviously, the pads were oscillating or vibrating in the caliper. Enough that it wore the paint off riding in the aluminum abutment brackets. This happened on both front calipers, but, was much more pronounced on the passenger side.
Has anyone seen this before? Is there anyway to stop this vibration? I can't live with the squeaking it is so bad. Any help? Thanks.
When I changed the pads in my GS over to ceramic I had the same issue at first. With the low mileage I had I didn't bother to turn the rotors. They didn't squeal all the time but usually at very light pedal pressure. No squeal with firm or hard pressure. Often when coming to a slow stop.
I did the bedding process a couple of times, thought the noise had gone only to have it return as low pressure and slow speeds. Little by little the noise went away. The only thing that changed is the old brake pad material either wore off or was covered over by the material from the new pads. I'm glad I stuck it out because the one piece GS pads are not inexpensive and there isn't a big market for USED brake pads.
