Default My Corvette Experience

First let me say, I started my experience when I was 10 years old and saw a red corvette (that was 32 years ago), and fell in love with the car. I have wanted one since then, but my ex-wife figured I would try and pick up women in one if I bought it...... So, I got divorced and my current wife loves them as well.

So, I am in the military and have owned numerous cars, ranging from a 2008 750i to trucks and yes even a VW rabbit for those winters in Germany. I was on my fourth deployment when I finally decided it was time, and my wife agreed. I started watching the forum early in the year, I was impressed with the amount of knowledge and professionalism (for the most part), and the lack of problem with the corvette.

In Aug I contacted Tommy jr, through the forum to see what he had and what kind of deal I could get.... I was in love with a 2012 Inferno Orange 3LT (loaded) he had in stock. After working through my finances, I realized it was a little too much for me. I sent him what I wanted (2012 Inferno Orange GS, cashmere / black interior, comp grey wheels, battery protection package and a couple of other cheap options). The price I was quoted was so good that I did not even entertain contacted any other dealers (I am stationed in Fort Drum NY, so the distance worked out well). I sent him a deposit and the car was ordered, my excitement went through the roof

I redeployed in Oct, I was planning on picking it up in before the 1500 incentive ran out 31 Oct 11. Then the dreaded factory shutdown happened...... I just went ahead and paid for the car before I saw it to keep the incentive, Tommy kept me informed through the whole process....

Finally the day of pick happened, Veterans Day, good present for myself and wife (dual military). My friend drove me there (in his M3), we got there about about 3pm, and was out of there by 3:30, I did not let Tommy explain too much, I was too excited. We drove down to the Brewhouse in Nashua and had a great dinner, then spent the night in the Crowne plaza (recommended by Tommy), great hotel.

We left the next morning on a impromptu visit to NYC, that night we could not find a hotel in Long Island, when we finally found one, I was bone tired, but still had a smile on my face. The next morning, I jumped out of bed and looked out of the window, smiling again. So I ran outside, got in, pushed the start button, battery was DEAD!!!! I then realized that the car would not shift out of drive into park, the car's electronics were on all night. So, contacted Tommy and had it jumped. He said he would ask his service manager, I drove to my friends house and plugged it into a trickle charger.

Had a great weekend, and as it turns out, that problem has not popped up again, still trying to figure it out. We drove 6 hours back to Fort Drum, had to take it easy as I was trying to break it in. EVERY cop I saw, stared me down as they hit me with the laser, but I was within the speed limit

For about a week and a half, I was waiting for it to snow, it never did, continued to drive my new baby. Over Thanksgiving I drove down to North Carolina to visit family (12 hours), smile never faded. I drove back Sunday (13 hours, traffic), smile never faded. Although, after making the same drive in my BMW 750i ( I no longer own), my wife complained about the comfort level. But, with that said, I also passed the 2000 mile mark while I was in NC. On the way back, no one even came close to me when I was driving, if they did, I pulled away from them with the greatest of ease. I hit the brakes a few times because of idiots on the road. Felt like I stopped within 10 feet of where I hit the brakes.

I LOVE THE CAR!!!! More adventures to come, I am putting it in the garage tomorrow for the winter. But I am moving to Oklahoma in Feb, so I should be able to drive 11 months out of the year..

Oh yeah, I have been average 22.3 miles per gallon, to include city driving, AMAZING for 430HP!!

I will post pictures once I figure out how to get then off of my iphone and onto the forum.

Get a photobucket account it is pretty easy from there...
Congrats on the vette and glad you got what you wanted...as always thank you for yours and your wife's service! I can say that now that I'm retired! Dual mil rocks!

I too waited until I had been through many cars and trucks..this by far is my favorite so far! The passion started in a resto mod 67 with a 427..pulled the left front tire off the ground, I knew I needed one of these to satisfy my speed requirements!
