Chime when opening door.
'09 C6 Coupe m6
The car is sitting there locked, I walk up with the fob in my pocket and
open the door. Sometimes it's silent and sometimes I get the chime going off. Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing......
It must be in the manual somewhere, but I can't find it. I can't figure out what it's binging about 'cause everything is the same.
PITA, because I have to hurry up and jump in, close the door to get it to stop.

Mine's an '08 and does the same thing. I usually notice it when I get into it unlocked in the garage. Sometimes it chimes, sometimes it doesn't. No rhyme or reason to it.

The car thinks that a fob is inside the car. This is from the previous time that you exited the car... when you closed the door, you were close enough that the car thought you left the fob inside. It may or may not be that a fob is currently inside the car.

Crazy
This bing, bing gets to be "tricky" at times, I've had trouble with wife getting out of the car slowly after I get out and bing goes crazy. Sometimes, NO RHYME OR REASON! ==> Typical Vette.

I wish they would just all go back to using keys. All these new cars with their keyless start are such a PITA for multiple reasons. If you have 2 fobs in your pocket, maybe the car your going to use doesn't see the one is should, so it won't work. Well, if I have 2 keys in my pocket, I can pick the right one and start the car. Low battery or other interference "no fob detected" on start or stop. Leave the fob in a coat pocket and put it in the trunk, all of the sudden you're locked out. Go to a car wash and you can't leave the "keys" in the car. Just the fob, well it may lock anyway and not let anyone back in. Go somewhere with someone else in the car that also carries a fob for the same car and stop to get gas or something, well the car still sees the other one in the car when you get out so you get the 3 horn beeps.
I don't understand the logic. "Let's have them push a button because it's such a hassle to put a key in a hole and twist it."
If given the option, I would always get a car with a simple key. But it's not an option for most cars that have the keyless ignition.
edit...Didn't mean to turn this thread into something else. OP, When you get in the car before you close the door (or after) does the DIC say anything? I haven't had this problem with my keyless on the C6, but sometimes the DIC will give a message as to what the car's issue is. "No Fob Detected"...etc. Maybe an interior light is left on or something? May not be related to the keyless ignition.

I was in the garage last week, and went in the house to get something and when I came out this stupid old bass-turd from down the street was sitting in my vette.
He said, "boy this thing is sumthin' else isn't it?"
YOW!! My wife's new mustang was parked right next to it, and he had to open my door and squeeze in!

Jerry, the chime is telling you that the car thinks there was a fob left in the car when the driver's door was last closed.
The horn will only honk three times if you choose that "fob warning" option when you personalize the car for that particular fob. Regardless of whether you turn that option on or off, the car will chime the next time the door is opened.
Try this simple experiment: Turn the engine off and open the driver's door but stay in your seat. Now close the door. Wait five seconds and open the door again.
What is happening is that, when you exit the vehicle normally and close the door, you are close enough to the antenna that the car is receiving a signal from the fob and therefore it thinks the fob is inside the car. The antenna that is causing the issue is probably the door unlock one which is located, I think, near the upper rear portion of the door (the bottom of the halo). About 2 seconds after the door closes, the car tries to sense a fob. If the fob is in your pocket within a few inches of that part of the door at that time, it may sense it and declare a "fob warning". The horn may or may not blow, depending on whether you chose that option, but the chime will sound the next time the door is opened.
I think, anyway.
