Does anyone know if it's possible to just pay for the remote entry service for when you accidentally lock your keys in the trunk? I seem to have a nack for leaving my keys in my golfbag, jacket pocket, etc... and locking them in theh trunk. Let's just say I wish it wasn't possible to lock the keys in the trunk. If only the sensor included the trunk area and the car would honk instead of lock like it does when you leave the keys in the center console or one of the seats.

Does anyone else have this issue, or am I "special" lol

1. I'm pretty sure you have to pay for the full "Safe and Sound" service at approx. $189 a year (I think that's the price).

2. Carry a key to the rear hatch on your person at all times, or have it secured good in a hidden spot under the car.

They have you, it is pay for it all or get nothing.

Let me give you an example, in 2001, I was test driving a new Cadillac that I eventually did purchase. During the test drive, I came upon a serious traffic crash with injuries.

I hit the ON STAR button and the operator came on, I explained the situation, their response something to the affect, we are unable to help you because your system has not been activated.

Just carry a key, forget ONSTAR.

But if you were activated they would help you......makes sense to me.

NO! NO! NO!

Your dislike of OnStar is causing you to post stupid and incorrect information. You do not have to pay for "it all." OnStar has 2 different plans.

One plan for some features including everything except the turn by turn navigation option is for one rate ($189 I think). The turn by turn navigation plan is an additional option that increases the price to approx. $299.

So, that's not exactly all or nothing is it?

However, you cannot strip out other individual options, which I'm sure is what you meant. But it's not what you said.

I just renewed today for the Safe and Sound plan for $12.95 per month. They were asking $18.95 for that plan but I told them I did not want to pay that much so she dropped to $12.95 immediately. Maybe i should have tried to go lower. This is the link below. Good luck.

If you use the fob to open the hatch when you put the clubs in the back, it won't be in your bag when you close the hatch.

Gilla81,
Onstar offers two different packages. The first is Safe&Sound which offers the basic Onstar services. The second is called Directions&Connections. This gives the turn by turn navigation and Onstar calling is an additional free per minute.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think I'll just keep a key on me or try to find a place under the car I can place one. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where a good place to hide a key under the car? Thanks in advance!

You should also think about turning off the automatic locking feature using the DIC personal settings

If FOB is in golf bag, and you open the trunk as usual by just pushing the button on the car (which is how it is usually done if you have a FOB).

Then put clubs in trunk. You are now locked out. Been there done that, now I never, ever put my FOB in golf bag anymore.
