Default Crystal Red & Cyber Gray Owners Please

Could those of you who own either CRM or CG please share their ownership experience with me? Things like: shows dirt easily, too dull, too pink, looks blue at night, always get compliments, never get compliments. You know, the kind of things that can only be learned after owning the color. I know that choosing color is a personal decision but I'm looking for feedback from those of you who have lived with the color, not just seen it.

Thanks Much,

I own an 08 CRM Vert, at night or cloudy days it looks like maroon,1st pic, in the sunlight it looks like a candy apple red. I always get compliments on the color and it hides dirt well.

I get a lot of positive comments about the CG even from people who have no reason to tell me they favor that color over any other color. However, I think you will find admirers of every color.

I don't think CG shows dirt but I also think most metallics don't show dirt especially the silvers and grays.

The blue flakes in the CG are really cool on a bright sunny day but you have to be standing next to the car and then you see the blue flakes. It doesn't turn blue from a distance.

All that said, I test drove a CRM at the dealer before I found the CG one. I think these are both great colors. The CG had 5,100 mile, a red and black interior, carbon fiber trim and chromed ZR-1 style wheels; the CRM was solid black inside, had 14,000 miles and all stock. Those little touches made the difference; both colors are IMO great.

I love my cyber gray. Always loving magnetic red vettes, wasn't sure about cyber gray. Now I have to rank it as my favorite. Doesn't show dirt too bad. Although when clean it definitely looks even better. The metalic in the paint is fantastic. Incredible when the sun shines on the paint. No regrets what so ever!!

My '03 Spiral Gray was a great color but once I saw Cyber Gray, I knew there was a trade in my future!

Beautiful in sun or shade. Huge "Wow" factor. Only color I really wanted.

I've owned so many different color cars, well...you really don't want to know. The Cyber gray shows dirt less than any other color I've had. I find it to be a classy color that seems to get more looks from a more mature crowd.

I was worried about it having a blue tint to it because in the direct sun it has a lot of blue if you are looking at it from close range. But the reality is that I never see it as a blue hue.

I can see why folks would not like it as it is a much more subtle color. You have to decide if subtle is good or bad for you.

BTW, I had a Crystal Red CTS Cadillac for a couple of years. I thought it looked really good on that car, but I've never really come to terms with it on the Corvette. It's not bad, but I prefer the Victory red. Here is an interesting picture of the two that I had and my Cyber gray below....

i have both...sort of....Cyber Gray vette and Crystal Red Cruze. Both colors are awesome and look great in all types of light. The CRM is beautiful when clean but shows dirt quicker than the CGM. On the other hand, CGM hides dirt better, or maybe thats because it rarely ever gets dirty? Also the little blue metallic flakes in the CGM are awesome in the sunlight. On overcast days it looks quite stealthy.

Oh, here are some pics:

Hopefully you get an idea of what each car looks like in different light.

Best of luck with your choice, cant go wrong either way

I have a 09 CG Z06 and have really grown to love the color. Many people comment on the color but none realize the blue metalic in the color unless I point it out. In the sun the metalic shows but in the shade it just looks grey. The color does not show dirt as bad as black but up close as with any color you will see the dust. From a distance it looks amazingly clean even when dusty.

One of my club members has the CR and it is a stunning color.

In my opinion the two colors just make a different statement.

my 08 looks as good as the first day I took it home. Like others have said, the color changes dramatically with the light and is hard to capture on film. The first 2 photos are examples of what it looks like in the shade and the last one is in the sun.

I continue to get compliments on the color and love the MN6 with an edelbrock e-force supercharger. Quite a thrill.

Both colors look good to me- it has to be your choice. My car has been trouble free but is not a a daily driver. It just turned 4 years old on Sept 1 and has 17,000 miles.

Luv my CG ZR1.

What a great color. Tough, yet classy.

The color oozes "modern muscle".

We own a 2008 CRM Coupe. My wife wanted red but I was very hesitant until I saw the CRM in person. As others have stated, the color appears different in different lighting conditions. I really love it in the bright sun when it appears to be a Candy Red Metallic. You can alter its appearance with different polishes and waxes as well. It doesn't really show dirt very well. The only downside that I have found is when it gets rock chips in the paint. The paint below the surface is white. So the chips do stick out a bit. Nothing my Dr. Colorchip touch up paint won't cure though. The car does get lots of compliments.

11 CG cpe 1lt. Many complements on the color, easy to keep clean, and looks very good w/blackouts on side markers and rear lamps.

I bought my slightly-used 2009 CRM vert after being lured into the dealership with the assurance that it was, in fact Victory Red. I almost left when I actaully saw the car, but after checking it out (and comparing it to a new VR coupe they also had in the showroom), I bought it. And while CRM is still not my all-time favorite C6 color (AO followed by LMB), I have to say that it makes for a striking car and always draws lots of compliments. Were I in need of a new C6, I would seriously consider going w/CRM again as I don't really care for the new orange/blues.
Enjoy,

CRM is awesome, lots of compliments, but it does go a little brown under street lights and parking lot lights at night. But in full sun or even a cloudy day it is great!

The compliments come non stop if I want them or not.
Is it the car or is it the color?

Waited 4 months for my 2012 CG GS because it was on constraints. I am so glad I waited. The CRM is a great choice and is a stand out but it was a little too stand out for me. Compliments, get them all the time as I said CG glad I waited.

Can't go wrong with either color and I had a hard time choosing between the CG or CRM when I bought mine.
I wanted a Metallic either way and CRM won out.
Always getting compliments on the color.
As others have mentioned, the color changes a lot in different light and is really a nice thing.
Two totally different colors in Sun than it is in Shade.
I have seen some say the CRM shows Pink in the Sun but I only noticed it once in Bright Sun and then had to look really hard to even notice it.
Otherwise it's close to a Candy Apple Red .. only lighter.
It hides dirt quite well compared to some other colors.
And, as someone else mentioned, it can take on a whole different color depending on the wax, polymer or Detail spray used.
Check 'em both out in person and see which one strikes you most

Thanks so much guys. These comments are exactly what I was hoping for. I appreciate your candid input. Did they ever straighten out the Cyber Gray delay issue? I don't see many CG vette's for sale.
