I recently bought some black Z06 wheels, and I need to know what the part number is for the tire pressure sensors, that have the black stems? Its a 2005 C6

The 2005-2009 C6 uses a gray sensor, GM part# 25758220.

You say "black stem", but I'm not sure what you mean by that.

When was your car built (should be a sticker on the driver's door with month/year)?

If it's a real early build (Sept 2004 or earlier) your original sensors may be black and sort of square shaped. But those sensors are no longer available and have been superseded by the gray peanut shaped 25758220 sensors.

When you get new ones, you'll need a TPMS tool to trigger them in order to program them into the TPMS computer memory in your car.

I'm thinking maybe he means black stem just to match the color of the wheels.

And I don't think that they are made that way.

Thanks for the help, yeah when I was at the tire shop, they said they could get some black sensors with the black rubber stems, just like in the silverados, and other GM vehicles, will those work with the 05 C6?

Ooohhhh - you're talking about sensors like these:

First of all, I don't think you want a sensor like that with a rubber valve stem for your Vette.

Second of all, until very recently there was not a sensor like that available for the Vette. Our OE sensors are made by Schrader, and you needed a sensor with the exact part# for your car or it wouldn't work - different sensors have a different data transmission protocol and just aren't recognized by your car unless they are manufactured for it.

However, recently they have come out with a sensor that can be programmed to transmit the data so it will be recognized by a bunch of different cars.

Dealers and tire shops needed to carry an inventory of a whole bunch of different sensors for a huge number of different cars and model years.

So....in the link below you can see that Schrader has come out with a sensor that can be programmed by the dealer or tire shop. With this sensor, they only need to keep this one type sensor in stock, then program it for whatever car it will be used on.

However....they need a very expensive TPMS tool that will program the sensor for all different makes/models of cars.

The sensor in the picture in the link below looks like it may have a rubber valve stem, so it may be what your tire shop is talking about:

Here's a picture of the special TPMS tool and a programmable sensor:
