Shooting for a PR at a recent track rental, I decided to add some race gas from the pump at my local Chevron. They have both 104 unleaded and 110 leaded
I'm anxiously waiting for E85 to show up at our pumps but until then, this will have to do.
Anyway, I took this pic and thought it was really neat and wanted to share.
I believe if you run race gas you need to up your timing to take advantage of the higher octane? If you just pop in a gallon of the 104 it will play well with your pump gas & tune and keep you from having any KR I've heard.
Thanks. Ya, The event got rained out so I didn't even get a chance to use the race gas. The car is sitting in my car waiting for test n tune this Thursday.
Have you noticed that food prices are rising because of a shortage of corn?
Yes! I it is having a detrimental effect on everything from corn flakes to beef.

No, I chose not to comment on the race gas, because other people will.
But you mentioned E85 right? There are some very compelling reasons the alert & conscientious consumer should never support any type of retail pump E85 product. Be aware, every time someone brings up ethanol, one of us is going to mention how bad the ethanol boondoggle is for America.

Have it tuned with the gas you're gonna use the most.

I'm not opposed to the ethanol industry, only to the gov't. (i.e. taxpayer) subsidizing it and mandating production/useage.
Let the market figure it out and set the price and the various uses (motor fuel, industrial fuel, etc).
I think he just posed for a great photo op with the pump. GREAT PIC!
Can't see anyone wasting money on fuel their car can't use (ie 104 octane in a car tuned for street gas).
