How much horsepower is enough ??????????????

There is no elixir "An elixir is a clear, sweet-flavored liquid used for medicinal purposes, to be taken orally and intended to cure one's ills." like horsepower. Running through the gears and rattling the rev limiter in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and running 4th out to 6k rpm is it. Then the adrenaline flush kicks in as you decelerate and your crotch starts to tingle. Yep..............that's enough.

vette platform is only good to about 1000hp anything over there its the wrong platform. I have friends that are over 1000hp while I am around 811 (thru a auto) to that I would like a TT lambo at around 1200 as a daily but thats just me.

Horsepower costs money, so for me to have more horsepower then you believe I should have, will cost me money. If you think 400 HP is enough for me, then you are wrong as I was willing to spend $20,000 more then you to get 69 additional horsepower. And, again, it's none of your concern what I spend my money on. If you are satisfied with the horsepower you have, great. But what gives you the authority to decide what is enough for me. Do you also go over to BigHomes.com and tell them how stupid they are for living in a larger house then your's, just because you believe 1,000 sq ft is enough home for anyone.

To have the ZR1 LS9 638 HP mill in my '12 GS Vert would be enough for me! Seriously though, I am happy with the LS3 436 HP, NPP and MZ6 that my car came with. After awhile it really gets down to bragging rights...and there will always be someone who has more anyway!

I upgrade as I get accustomed to using all of the power on tap and getting it to the ground. I drive my 410rwhp LS2 with all the nanny's off and it feels slow now. Next up is a blower and wider stickier rear tires. I think 550rwhp will be good for a while.

IMO, I think the sweet spot for a street car is about 600rwhp. At any kind of reasonable vehicle speed, more power will just create more wheelspin and make the car harder to drive. 800rwhp becomes useable on drag radials at higher than legal highway speeds. The car basically becomes a weapon at that point and you've got to really think about when and where you're going to use it safely.

I'm at 600rwhp and more importantly 600rwtq. I have to run the most sticky tire possible to get full traction on the street. And even then I'm not at wot 100%. I just purchased a set of Hankook Ventus R-S3 (140 tread rating) to see if they will hook-up better.
Here's a 1st gear to 2nd gear (short shift) on mich pilots. Car is detuned (timing scaled back, Air/fuel richened) to produce 572rwhp/602wtq.
Notice once I hit approx 3800rpms in 2nd gear the rear end steps-out and the car goes sideways.
For the street, there are definately limits to what is useable hp and torque.

505 is plenty satisfying for me. The problem with mega horsepower is the inability of the car to put the power to the ground without losing traction. Even with sticky tires 1st and second gear full throttle runs create an awful lot of wheelspin. If you can't put the power to the ground what's the sense of it?

I think 505 would be enough. Hope to find out one day.

638 is plenty/too much here in Minnesota but I'm thinking that it might be the sweet spot for the Autobahn in Germany.
Off topic, I really like the look of that white with the black stripes in the above post. White diffuser looks perfect on your car as do the blackouts. Did you route the exhaust through the back up light cutouts?
