This has got me perplexed. I go out to test some new CD’s in the 2008 Vert. I push the Accessory button and play the CD’s. All worked great. I then turn the Accessory off and exit that car. After closing the door and walking away the horn beeps three times after about 8-10 seconds. I know before you ask the “Auto Lock” is turned off. The key fob was in my pocket and fob # 2 was in the house.
This wasn’t the first time this has happened. I tried to research the cause, but didn’t find a fix. It’s not that bad, but it scares the beejeebees out of me when I’m that close to the car. Any ideas?????
Car thinks you have left the FOB inside the vehicle. This happens when you have the FOB in your pocket and do not completely clear the door jam before closing the door.
Not sure if this makes sense but you are closing the door and the FOB is still being sensed as being in the car. I usually step completely outside the car and door than shut it. Hopefully someone else will explain it better if I have confused you.

but he said autolock was off, does the car still honk 3 times at you even with it off?

You're staying too close to the car after you close the door. Turn off the fob in the car warning and it will quit, or get away from the car sooner.

You see anything in this information from the owner's manual that says anything about AUTOLOCK?
FOB Reminder: This option chirps the horn three times
when the driver’s door is closed and there is a keyless
access transmitter inside the interior of the vehicle.
This will only occur when the vehicle is off.
Press the OPTION button until FOB REMINDER appears
on the display, then press the RESET button to scroll
through the following modes:
• YES
• NO (default)
If you choose YES, the horn will chirp three times when
a keyless access transmitter is inside of the vehicle
while the ignition is turned off and the driver’s door
is closed.
If you choose NO, this option will turn off.
When the mode you want is selected, press the
OPTION button to set your choice and advance to
the next personal option.
The antenna which is receiving the signal is most likely the driver's door unlock antenna (or whatever its real name is). The car waits 2 seconds after you close the driver's door and looks for a fob signal. If you are within a couple of feet of that antenna a couple seconds after closing the door, it will think the fob it detected was inside the car rather than outside.
You have two options: (1) Turn off the honking feature in he personalization menu, or (2) after closing the door move away from the rear of the door with more alacrity.
The option is fob reminder. I thought it was the passive lock option at first but was wrong. Hope nobody has a fit it was accidently called autolock. gmafb
This happens to me a couple of ways. I do have my auto lock set to on, so I would expect it if I left the fob in the car.
Occurrence type 1: get out of the car, leave door open, get gas, get back in, close the door, have everyone at the station look at me when my car horn beeps 3 times. My fault. I try to remember to close the door at the gas station but keep forgetting.
Occurrence type 2: rare, but it happens. Two nights ago I got home from work, fob is in my jacket pocket. Exited the car, walked around to the trunk and it beeped 3 times. Not sure why it did it this time. By the time it beeped I was at the back of the car. I know it wont see the fob back there because I have locked the fob in the trunk before (coupe, not vert) and the car wont open, which means it doesn't recognize the fob in the trunk.
Neither is a big deal to me. Just got to remember to close my door at the gas station. I like the auto lock because I don't want to have to remember to manually lock the car every time I exit.

If I may have the young lady in your avatar as a Christmas present all is forgiven ............
Thanks everyone, I thought that something was broken. I guess I have a choise to either disable the Fob reminder system or runway from the car when I close the door. It might be good exercise for me.
My car also give the 3 beep salute when I exit by opening the door with only a small gap, as when someone is parked very close, and you open the door only far enough to escape. I have considered this to be a design error
The third option would be to keep the fob in your other pants pocket, which should move it far enough away.
If i understand John's issue, it has nothing to do with the door but rather is a consequence of not being able to exit the narrow space between two cars fast enough. Personally I would never park that close to another vehicle, but moving the fob to the other pocket may get it far enough away.
