I got my first Vette last month and it has a 6 speed stick. I haven't driven a manual trans in 32 years. I think it is really easy to drive. It isn't bad in traffic, the car (and driver) just would be happier not inching along and not terrible.
I learned how to shift on a buddy's 1969 Camaro with 307, 3 speed manual and manual steering. This is a breeze.
Even driving a used C6 6-speed manual will quickly educate you about the clutch effort required, which is not very much for 436 hp, or 505 hp !!
this is the idea: many places won't let you drive a new C6, so ask to drive a used one. in rank order, it isn't as easy as say a small, 4cyl. import. but it's not really difficult altho for those who said it'd be no picnic in rush hour, stop and go traffic, they are correct.
Honda Civic - very easy
Nissan 370Z -pretty easy
Corvette - easy
Silverado 1500 - not so easy
1 ton dually - not easy
10 ton dump truck - hard
1978 Fiat 128 spider - why the h#!! did they put a 10 ton dump truck spring in this thing.
I couldn't resist.. back in the day I had a 128 Spider and my wife couldn't drive it. She she had a manual Civic but couldn't push the clutch down on the Fiat. I'm sure she could drive the Vette, but she won't, she's afraid something will happen to it while shes driving.
does the c6 clutch make a clunky noise when shifting?
My 2010 Camaro did the same thing. I think it's normal since the new Camaro and late model c6's share the same transmission and engine. It doesn't make the noise all of the time. I could be wrong.
In my opinion the clutch is very easy to use, even when stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for a long time; but then again my legs are in good shape in spite of my youthful age (71)
As others have mentioned, the old mechanical linkages were a b!tch.
I put an 11" clutch in a 65 SS, and my leg would start shaking towards the end of a long red light.
I think it is easy, but as stated above, go try one. You don't even have to drive that car to find out how much effort is involved, just puch in the clutch while parked and you will see.
