I also have a lower back problem and the seats in my new 2012 are more comfy than in my old 2011 but... not enough in itself to justify a change just for the seats.

I am happy with the 2012 power seats partly because of the adjustible lumbar support, which I find effective for reducing my lower back aches. I usually readjust more than once if I'm in the car for any length of time. I also highly recommend the memory option to move the seats back for entry and exit.

YES, I owned a 05 and now 2012 and that's the simple answer! I even like it better than the seats (Recro) in my 09 CTS-V.

"Comfortable" doesn't necessarily mean soft.

That is, a firmer seat bottom provides more support, which can improve lower back comfort. It worked for me.

Get the $40 "Seat Bottom Cushion Repair" kit from corvettecentral.com (p/n 135074).

HUGE improvement for me. With the kit, I have little or no lower back discomfort (a few hours behind the wheel used to cause me pain).

Depending on where you live, maybe this vendor can install the kit for you:

If you're a heavyweight, you may also need to replace your seat bottom cushion ($70):

Bottom Line: Definitely fix/upgrade your seats. It's inexpensive. And with the above parts, any decent auto upholstery shop should be able to do it in a few hours.
