So, I was watching the DVD that came with my 2005 Corvette last night and they said that if you were going to store your car for over 25 days that you should unhook the battery and then put a charger on it when you wanted to drive it again. They pointed to the negative terminal. I am not going to, but, how many of you guys do unhook your battery over the winter?
I was actually just wondering how you do yours, exactly. With a Tender and connected? Disconnected? There are so many people on here who say that when they disconnect the battery for one reason or another that it creates other problems battery wise. So I was just wondering....... I guess should have asked........Do you disconnect it and take the chances of something else goofing up?
okay.. battery tender BUT do you unhook or stay connected?? That's the OP question, right?
Connected.
Did it for 2 winters with my 05 Vert, and now going on the 4 winter with my Z. Charger wires are hooked up under the hatch and the box is on a crate behind the car so that I can see the steady little green light!
I'm going connected. Previous owner suggested lighter adaptor but I think I'll run the cable out of the enginer compartment and put the tender in front of the car where I can see it all winter.
My 06 - LS2 - Vert has been stored for approximately 6 months out of each year since October of 2006. When in storage, it is on a Battery Tender. I am still operating with the original Delco Battery. I do not disconnect the Battery when in storage, I just hook up to the Battery tender. I run the Battery Tender leads from the Battery, down through the engine compartment where they appear under the car and then connect to the wall outlet. My Vette has 25K miles and has made countless passes through the 1/4 mile at Bandimere Speedway. I have a two speed manual control switch for my fan which I use at the track to aid with cooling between runs. I have discharged the battery, manually running the fans to a point where the battery required a jump to start the car. Once started, the Battery bounced right back to full potential. I have load tested the Battery and it still tests good. The only time I completely disconnect the Battery is when adding Mods, such as when I added the E-Force where the Battery was removed and out of the car for approximately 4 weeks.
I have a 2010 Grand Sport. Since the battery is in the back, I mounted a "battery buddy" tender near the fuse box and wired it into the jump start terminals by the fuse box. I just plug it in and walk away. I used a tender on my 2001 for years and never had a problem. It makes it easy when I decide to take the car for a long drive during the winter when the streets are dry.

Disconnected.
Make sure your key works so you can get in later or leave the hood unlocked.
You have to Re-index the windows after reconnecting the battery. See owner manual. Nothing to it.
