Default Driver side window problem

I have a 2005 Coupe, A4 and my Driver side window will not go up the last ½ (?) inch when I close the door every time. When I drive off it will go up and something it takes a while to go up on its own. Is the window motor about to go out. If so is this a DIY project. I also can not lower my passenger side window down from the driver-side control. It works good with the switch on the passenger door. Thanks

Sounds like two issues.

On the first: Did you try reindexing the windows? It is in the manual and there are several posts on that issue already.

Second: Try indexing to see but it sounds like a switch problem.

As DonOH indicated, I doubt this is a window indexing program, but here's how to reset it.

Close the car door. Raise the window and hold the up switch an extra 3 seconds. Release. Without lowering the window, hold the up switch again for 3 seconds. Release. Done.
For sure, you need to get the dealer to check the driver's side switch for the passenger window.

Thanks for the help. I took the door pads off and cleaned them both. I read on this forum that this might help. The doors then worked fine and when I close the door the window goes up. The problem now is when I got in the car and closed the door I can't open the driver door with the inside release button. When I push the button the window would index down and when I push the button again the window will go back up but the door will not open. I noticed the drive door pad was in bad shape. The little plate inside was loose and there was nothing inside to hold it in place. Going to buy a new door pad for the driver side tomorrow. Hope that will solve my problem.

Usually is the door pad, and I believe you are right! Time for a new one, only about $15.
