Callaway yes or no
I talked to my dealer about converting my 2011 Grandsport into a 606 Callaway. My dealer here in Ontario is a Callaway dealer. I really like everything about the Callaway except the price. $30.000 I'm not sure what to do. I know you can supercharge your corvette for a hell of allot cheaper. But then its just a supercharged corvette ,not a Callaway I would love to hear if anyone has a Callaway 606 Thank you

they do a good job at what they do, I am not sure but I thought they are just doing new cars now and not doing conversions anymore..could be wrong on that. Two of my club members just got Cal 606s this year, so far so good. If I were going to spend 30 grand more...I would just by one of those slow Z06s...lol...I mean come on now..where are you going to actually use this power .... unless you are in an areal where you can open up the car........and use this power...its really no better than having a Z ...or even a 436 hp car ...you can only go so fast on the road...LEGALLY>..but its your car..enjoy it...do as you please..dont wait for people on this forum to decide...its YOURS

I am not a customer, never have been and probably never will be: their kits are not my style personally (well, mostly the hood). But Callaway is more than "just a blower." Obviously, you're getting aesthetic components that make the car "look" like a Callaway Corvette, you're getting their warranty and customer service, and your essentially buying name-brand exclusivity - which translates into higher value at resale time.
I'm not saying the Callaway kits are worth the money per se, but you are buying a reputation and an image just as much as you're buying a supercharger, hood, exhaust, dyno tune and the labor to install it. Kind of like paying the factory to build you a souped up Vette with a bigger motor, exhaust, widebody conversion, etc - but we call it a Z06.
Some people buy Z06's. Some people buy BMW's. Some people buy Callaway packages - it's kind of the same idea and boils down to what makes your naughty parts tingle. Saying a package or a car is "worth" X number of dollars is a fool's game - ultimately it's only worth what you're willing to pay for it. Some people don't see the value in the Z06 and get the Grand Sport instead - others get that BMW. See where I'm going with this?
ETA: to be clear, I have a TON of respect for Callaway (and Lingenfelter) as companies, because I've heard and followed them since their work with the C4 Corvettes back in the 1980's and elsewhere. But the Z06 makes my naughty parts do funny things - and I'm going that route.

If one's budget is less then what a new ZR1 costs, and they want a hundred more horsepower then what a Z06 delivers, in a warranted reliable package with loads of engineering to back up the conversion, then the Callaway does indeed make sense.

But what is your goal? Performance or an more individualized car? If performance and you lack the time to do it yourself, then Calloway would be a good way to go. If status symbol then definitely Calloway.

Nothing wrong with getting a Callaway if it is in your budget, they are really a nice ride, I have driven one in our area and it really is a blast to hit the go pedal and instant boost

While it could be said Callaway is not for everyone and some - especially online, boast about more performance, less money, etc. for some of the installs they piece together. However, Callaway Corvettes are much more than simply a sum of parts.
At Callaway, we have engineered our specialty packages for select vehicles for 35 years. For the past 25 years, we've had the pleasure of working with the Chevrolet Corvette, something in which Chevrolet hired us (in 1985) to do. From 1987-1991 we built factory twin turbocharged Corvettes, engineering an amazing package which is legendary today
Fast forward to where we are today... In 2006, we began our SuperCharged series of Callaway Corvettes. Now in our 7th year of this model, these are the best yet! Engineered to powerful, reliable, drivable, and emissions compliant - and backed by a PowerTrain Warranty peerless in the industry, these are all great reasons to consider Callaway
Powerful - absolutely! Our testing is performed using the same testing standards the World's top manufacturers use. Not an inflated dyno-brag-queen # or some other nonsense, we use the SAE Testing methods to provide repeatable and measurable results.
Reliable - Nobody comes close! With the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of R&D miles accumulated, Callaway engineers the sc system to not only work well and deliver results, but deliver them in the long run. Our current test car, the 2010 Grand Sport, has over 114,400 miles this week. Next week, she'll have a few thousand more, and NEVER any problem This car has been roadraced, aotocrossed, dragraced, and driven by hundreds of prospective buyers.
Drivable - In every kind of situation, weather, traffic, road surface, our 2010 Callaway SC606 Grand Sport has always delivered Just the other week, I drove from sunny LA to snowy Colorado. There was a little ice, in between
Emissions Compliant - CARB Legal, we are 50 state emissions compliant and adhere to the strictest of standards. It's rather easy to build "dirty power" with long-tube headers and other changes which are non-comliant. But to build power clean takes real talent and our team of engineers deliver and adhere to the laws.
PowerTrain Warranty - We see a lot claiming to offer a warranty on installs. However, are they really a direct comparison? Not even close - read the fine print and ask questions - who fixes your car? Who pays out of pocket until resolved? What are the caps on payout? Have they ever paid a real claim?
We're serious about our warranty and don't just back components or the engine, we back the PowerTrain - and do so in a way nobody else does! This is also done with Callaway Trained Techs at each of our Authorized Dealers
As you can see, we invest in our dealers, our customers, and our product (through R&D, etc.). We do not bolt something to your car, cross our fingers, and hope you never return - we send each customer a leather-bound folio with a welcome letter from Reeves Callaway, personally. We welcome you to Callaway ownership and hope we can build a Callaway vehicle for you. Please let me know how else I might help

Vinny, I'm assuming that either the glass roof, vert or automatic is the reason you're considering supercharging your GS. The reason I ask is that if you didn't care about these issues why not just sell your GS and get a used ZO6 or ZR1? I owned a C6 ZO6 and I will say that the car is BRUTALLY fast. Some might even say dangerously fast. But like others already said, where are you going to use all this power? If we were talking 10 grand, I'd say go for it. But 30 grand is way too much buck for the bang!

My dealer is a authorized callaway dealer. I asked about converting my car into a callaway And they said as long it only no more then 3000 miles. I also talked to callaway . And they also said my car would be a signed and numbered callaway and would be no different except the warranty. It starts day of delivery I got my car July 2011 So thats when warranty starts with callaway.
