Be thankful you got to enjoy 6,000 miles of silence
I've found if I run'er to 60-70mph and brake HARD a couple times in a row the squeal shuts up for awhile. You could do a search on bedding the brakes.

You'll get used to it. I finally did.

No way!! I did the exact same thing with the same result. Trust me. All I did was change the front pads to Hawk ceramics and the squeal is gone. I was tired of sounding like a 72 pinto when I was coming to a light!!
I had NO squealing with the pads that came with the car,i changed over to the GM ceramics pads for the brake dust problem, and i did bed them in,and they squeal all the time,,.SUCKS,.,

That's my point. Not trying to be an AHOLE!! Sorry if it looked like that. I had the excact same thing you are having!! The GM ceramics are freaking noisy!!! No matter how many times you bed your brakes it keeps coming back (at least with me it did). I was more worried what I was doing to my rotors than my pads because I had to keep bedding them.
THEN... I got Hawk ceramic brake pads in the front (only). The squeal was GONE!!
Try it. First, it is not an expensive fix, even if you have someone else do it. Second, how long do you want to put up with your car sounding like crap stopping at a light!!
