Default Why Do People Hate the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible 60th Anniversary Edition?

What's to hate about this car? It's freakin' awesome and with all those spare 427's lying about, now they have somewhere to use them.

...even further, why do people (Corvette owners) hate any of the Corvette models ?

All have their own features, appealing to many different types of sports-car buyers...the broader the target audience,
the better for the model line-up.

The more new Corvettes that are sold just enhances the future of the entire series...that's good for all of us.

The 2013 Corvette, being in production for 60 years, is an amazing accomplishment in the automotive world.

Remember, it all started with an underpowered roadster having a two-speed automatic...
look at the historic evolution and what has been spawned from the same !

I put this in the other thread. No hate here, but a Z06 owner just wanting to give some perspective.

The car looks like a winner for a certain demographic, but I have no envy or desire for the 427 Vert.

A convertible has a reduction in chassis rigidity and higher weight over fixed roof cars. Unless the car I really want comes only as a convertible (S2000, Boxster, etc) I prefer a fixed roof whenever possible (M3, 911, etc). The additional weight from the steel chassis is undesirable as well.

I think the car is targeted towards 'cruisers' and car show folks, not folks who want the highest performance or weekend track cars. Those guys know fixed roof and lower weight is the way to go, so the coupes would be the model to get.

The only thing that does bother me, is it reduces the uniqueness of the LS7. I don't hate this car by any means (or the GS for that matter, despite the constant whining from their owners) but the LS7 does feel a little less special now that it is in a 'cruiser' instead of a track car. The Z06 model designation is still special for a variety of reasons but its a bit of a bummer to see the badass LS7 put in a 'cruiser'.

Overall, I'm pretty neutral about the announcement. I'm glad theres another model and choice out there for those who want it, but not particularly thrilled the LS7 was put into a 'cruiser' that owners would never to the track. The people most bothered will be GS Vert owners who really wanted a 427 or Z06 guys who really wanted a convertible. I wanted a 427 coupe and the Z06 fits the bill perfectly.

I don't think the Z06 lineage is hurt anymore than someone buying an LS7 crate motor and dropping it into a wide-body conversion, kit car, or other vehicle.

10 years from now, people are going to forget about all the special edition, grand sport, wide-body conversion, grand sport convertible, base coupe-type nomenclature. All they're going to do is see a mean looking corvette and ask "Is that a Z06?"

In other words, IMHO the Z06 badge is probably the only one people will remember - precisely because of its construction, purpose and relative rarity as well as having the LS7 (versus the LS3 GS, which is becoming the new base model based on recent sales!). I'm not a fan of diluting the breed, but this LS7 convertible is one special edition I can get behind: it's just cool!
