This may be a dumb question, but I just purchased a 2007 coupe. Does they key work anything except the glove box?

It's your emergency key. It opens the trunk lock above the license plate so you can get in if the battery dies and the electronic door locks fail. It also allows programming new FOB's if needed.

2007 owner's manual, page 72.

There is a key, located
inside the keyless
access transmitter, that
works the glove box
and can open the
hatch/trunk lid if vehicle
power is lost. See
Hatch/Trunk on page 83
for more information.

Make sure your key will actually open the trunk/hatch:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...metal-key.html

I keep a spare key in my wallet. Very handy if the fob battery dies or you lock the fob in the car: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ocked-out.html

Under $10 at most places that make car keys. Use key blank B-106 (same as a Saturn).

And congrats on your new C6!

Also, make sure you actually test the trunk lock. Some had problems from the factory and the owners didn't find out until they had a real need to use it.

Congrats
