Anyone have any experince with the SLP Harmonic Balancer Underdrive Pulley for the C6 Corvette. Model #100225.
I have an 2006 A6. Replaced first Balancer at 54,000 miles. Within 500 miles newly installed one is going bad. Third one will be replaced under warranty. Dealer feels they just got a bad one. Is this one worth the money?
Thanks Leif
I have one installed with about 5K miles since install.
Spins very true and I drive the heck out of my Vette. You need one of these or an ATI unit. The stock GM balancers are all junk.
I think its universally agreed the ATI unit is superior but if your not building massive power than the slp is all you need for half the cost. You will need new belts due to being underdriven. I also have no charging/ AC issues with this unit.
Good luck, just don't go stock whatever you do, you will be replacing again if you do.
Any aftermarket Dampener is way better than OEM. Most aftermarket ones have a metal plate that is bolted with 6 or more small bolts to the front face and this will prevent any forward movement of the outer ring. Most importantly is to install it correctly using the old bolt to seat it properly then remove old bolt and install a new bolt, torqued to spec. Read install instructions carefully and be sure your mechanic follows the proper procedure!
