Default Engine Compartment Design

I am thinking about getting a painted battery box, fuse box, alternator, trans & brake cover, etc.

Can any one tell me how these things mount? Which vender has the best product? Is stainless better than painted?

I am nervous about these parts coming off or getting lose under my hood, causing havoc. Do they all mount securely? Will these covers cause my engine to run warmer...?

My hope is to give my engine bay some flash, with style.

Whats your opinion?

Thanks
Jim

I bought a body colored painted alternator cover that was held on with sticky tape. Came loose and I was never able to reattach with success; heat from the engine compartment caused the adhesive to "melt". For this reason I would suggest one that screws or bolts-on.
I wouldn't worry about such decorative covers causing the engine or covered components to overheat. I think overheating of anything in Alaska is unlikely . Certainly black is an excellent color choice for being visible to other drivers in the snow.

Double Sided tape works well on everything except the alternator cover. Alternator heats up and the adhesive breaks loose, then the cover slides off. So I just keep it in the trunk until I stop and raise the hood.

Mine aren't painted but you get the idea. These are from RPI.\\

Here's a link that will show you the best way to attach an alternator cover. I haven't done this yet, but it looks like a good plan.

My covers (painted) are held by velcro on part/cover as supplied by the seller
The Alternator stainless cover is bolted on.
All covers are very secure

Holy Smokes guys....your engine bays look very nice.

Luster- I appreicate the tip for mounting the alternator cover, will give it a try. Thanks

su8pack1- I really like your "red" engine bay. Which "red" did you use?

laconiajack- Your statement reminds me of the song "Are Blonds Really More Fun Or Are They Just Easier To Find In The Dark"

Like others have said, some Velcro and 2 screws for the alternator cover. I got most of mine from RPI Designs.

This is one of the best looking engine compartments I have seen. I keep wondering how it would look in my Torch Red

Alt cover that bolts on is the best. My plenum cover gets to hot and melts the glue of the velcro. Only "covers" I have is for the brake res and booster and the battery. All other parts are originals that were painted by Steve Ray.
