Saving settings when removing battery
I have searched many times, but can't find a post I saw several weeks ago. The post concerned using a 9 volt battery to maintain the system memory while removing the battery from the car. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
BobD

They have one at Walmart for about $4.00. I noticed it today and started to buy it just to have ready if needed.

Last Friday, I replaced my 4.5 year old Delco with an Optima (Yellow Top). I had no problems. All I had to do was re index the windows and reset the clock and radio stations. Something else must be wrong. I spent most of my time trying to loosen the cables from the battery posts on the factory battery.

I disconnect my battery when on vacation and when I replaced it. I only re-index the windows. Nothing else changes.

That's the only thing most who have posted here have had to update/change, besides the clock (sometimes).

I also kept my gate and garage door programming.
Only had to do window indexing which is easy peasy....

Reindexing the windows takes about 15 seconds and is all that is needed. Probably easier and quicker than finding a 9 volt battery.

Since the windows are auto up and they "index" down when opening the door, the car has to relearn the top position of the window. This is done by fully raising the window and holding up for 3 seconds twice

With door open or closed?
. And drove an '12 GS the other day, and windows only had auto-down, not up. But it was a 2LT. Maybe 3/4LTs have auto-up as well.
