I have a CTEK-3300 and use it with the cigarette lighter plug which I like very much. With my Corvette this works very well however keep in mind that in some cars the cigarette lighter receptacle becomes inactive when the ignition is turned off and the key is pulled out. I found this out when I tried using the charger on my wife's old Honda.
Before you buy one for a car other than a Corvette see if the cigarette lighter works with the ignition off.

I've got an older model that works fine on a couple of my motorcycles and I have the Ctek and Battery Tender. Ctek is in a different class compared to the others.
I am kinda leary about attaching the permanent leads to the battery, though. Didn't someone mention something about the bolt on the battery cable being tapered? We might need to check this out before putting them on the battery leads.
Permanent leads to the battery are harmless. It is a direct connection to what you are trying to charge. The tapered nuts are irrelevant as you don't even have to touch them. The ring terminal goes on top the tapered nut followed by a washer and nut you supply. I then ran a wire to the grill where I access the connection so I don't have to open the hood.
