C6 Don't Like speed limit signs!
So I have a 07 monty Red coupe and oops tagged a curb and flatten a 35 mph sign. Ah embarrassing thing to happen when your not fooling around!
Now there is a question in all this, the car went to the local GM dealer for repairs IE front bumper and a few smaller items and one right front rim.
Repairs are done new rim and tire installed and alignment done.
Test drive by alignment shop and steering wheel shake right off the bat
can't even drive it!
So it is cold up here in Utah and I should not of had the car out anyways but I do have concerns about this shop they out soured the tire mount and balance But I expect the rim would have to be bent to induce the wobble at such low speed.
suppose to be a new rim.
Also after murdering the speed limit sign, I drug my bumper down the road about a block and turned on to a side street with no shake at all.Ah blinked for a second but that is all.
Damage to rim was 1/4 inch long nick and about the same length cut in the tire.
So what could cause this. the tech said the front end was tight when he aligned it.

some times the wheel fits very tight on the hub. If they don't get it seated right it will wobble and shake pretty bad. Take off any wheels they took off and reseat em. This happened to me when they took it apart to paint calipers and wheel barrels. Was a very easy fix.

It's just me, but I wouldn't try to figure it out. I would just take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it. Of course, I wouldn't have taken it to a dealer in the first place, but that is just me.

Steering wheel wobble with the change of the rim. don't know if it is an after market rim or not. but it was solid until they changed the rim.
Not taking it back from the dealer until it is right but I still want to know.

I'm sorry...I am really trying to figure out your reply. I thought you had the car back, and were seeking advice. I thought that is where your first post left off.
Hope the dealer fixes it....it is their issue to fix.

Did it bend the rim or scratch the rim? Could there be suspension damage?

They actually sent it to a Nissan shop for the alignment because they could not get it on the rack and they are a GM dealer!
I went and talked to the tech at the Nissan dealership so I hope that helps. Just told him the car was smooth, they put the new wheel on and it wobbles so yea it is the wheel and most likely the installation of the wheel!

Which is why you go to a tire and suspension place for tires and suspension work and not a dealer. If a dealer screws up working on a car, they still survive because they make enough selling cars to not need the repair business. A tire shop that screws up suspension work is risking bankruptcy. And a tech that does 10 alignments a day probably does them better than a tech that does 10 a month.

True but the dealer has a body shop! and they where only a few blocks away.

I sure hope things are working out for you on this little nightmare.
