Huge gap between Flowmaster mufflers...Accessory help plz
Hi all. I installed a Flowmaster axle-back exhaust a couple weeks ago. As you can see, there's a large gap between the mufflers that I'd like to fill with some kind of accessory.
Corvette America's products all say "stock mufflers only." That's the only place I know to look.

They look nice. I am thinking about getting those for my 2005, A-4. How do you like the sound. I had flowmaster on my ram 1500 and I love the exhaust note.

I really, really like the sound. From what I read before buying, they're among the quietest aftermarkets out there. Wasn't looking for loud, just better than factory. They're really deep.
If you, or your frequent passenger/significant other are sensitive to the internal resonance (everyone calls it "drone"), you might want to actually drive in a car with them installed. There is no question that these possess that attribute. From 1300 - 2200 RPM it's inescapable, and more pronounced under mild load than at cruise.

Yup, just had them installed today and the drone is very much there at those RPM's. With the windows up it is worse, but with them down (and ultimately the roof off) it'll be much better. They sound fantastic and I'm finding that I'm using the paddle shifters more to get in the right RPM range for no drone. The good part is that I love the paddles on this car (never used them before) and with the exhaust, the downshift comes with that burble sound. Yummy.
Best part is that my buddy owns a shop so I got it all for $500 installed including new tips.
Drone or no drone, for that price, how can you go wrong?
I have Flowmasters on my 05/A4 and I think they sound fantastic.
I don't mind the gap between the mufflers... as I think it looks better than another gaudy trinket or emblem on a car that already has one on the rear fascia.
If you want something cool to look at under there, put a big fat swaybar under it.
I don't have a picture to showing the Gap filled, because I have elected not to. What I did do is take a wire wheel and attach it to my drill hand knock the dirt and crud off the aluminum cross bar which shows between the exhaust.
I have FlowMasters and have been very happy with them. Some think that the more you spend the better the exhaust system...whatever, but as a guy who has been in to modifying cars for the last 30 years the FlowMasters sound great. Not super loud, but nice...much better than stock.
With a convertible and a 6 speed I don't have a drone issue, but I can say for the money you cannot go wrong with this axle back system.

Sway bar, great idea. I put on different tips. Still have the quad, but tips are more oblong, larger than stock and go with the *** end of the car much better. The best part is they are tucked and spaced so that there isn't much gap at all. If I could ever figure out how to get a pic from my iPhone directly to the site I'd show ya. Will research tomorrow and update.

If it really bothers you, dampening material (I.e. Dynamat Xtreme or Raamat) applied to 40-50% of the rear hatch floor (the plastic liner under the carpet) combined with a layer of sound barrier (ensolite, or other closed cell foams, or mass loaded vinyl) will most likely eliminate the drone. My SLP exhaust was pretty unbearable in those conditions, but now, no issue at all.
