Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone knows an excellent detailer in the Northern VA area that truly knows how to get rid of scratches without leaving swirl marks or ruining my paint. I brought my black 2009 CTS to the dealer for a repair and they destroyed my paint. It looks like they used a dirty rag to clean the car and now it's covered in swirls and scratches. They're going to pay for a professional detailer and although I could probably get the majority out I shouldn't have to spend hours fixing their mess. I am super picky and I want the paint returned to a glassy finish that doesn't have scratches or swirls.
Thanks in advance!
OK, i found this place called D&V autobody. Has anyone ever used them, and if so what do you think? They seem pretty good.
Haven't used D&V for detailing but have for autobody repair of the daily drivers. Mixed results, mostly very good, and good enough that they get my repeat business. They usually have some high dollar cars over there, so I suspect they do a good job with whatever they are doing to them.
Whomever you choose, make sure they understand that you want a full paint correction to remove swirls not just fill them in with a glaze. Here's a 50/50 image of proper paint correction.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. That's also exactly what my car looks like now.
He did an awesome job on my Vette. I don't think he is doing 3 stage paint corrections anymore, but talk to him anyway and let him inspect the car. He'll tell you what he will do with it.
Check out his website - he does excellent work. Mine is the black Grand Sport on his site. Tons of pictures of what he fixed.

Thanks, saw that site, it helps you're recommending him.

too bad its not warmer and spring time...... you could cruise down to Stafford, I have detailed quite a few forum members vettes for them, as well as a whole lot of other models, from Vipers to F bodies to exotics.... for free....they walked right along side of me and chipped in.....
Hey guys, just wanted to give you an update. I used D&V autobody. In the end they charged $440. They did a full detail after wet sanding a lot of the scratches and buffing the car. It's definitely light years better than it was after the dealer got their hands on it, but by no means perfect. There's still a lot of small scratches on it. They did a really good job with some of the bigger scratches, but it looks like they just didn't buff enough to get all the smaller scratches out. I'm happy overall, but really upset that the dealer ruined my car. It'll never look the same and I planned on keeping this for a long time. I can't emphasize this enough if you care about the way your car looks, never let anyone else touch the paint, you will just be let down!

DAMN, sorry to hear that. The scratches must have been too deep to polish out. I don't know if it's worth taking it up the GM chain for a re-paint or not.
It's completely ridiculous that dealerships are this ignorant when it comes to automobiles.

No kidding. I have such mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I think anyone who's involved in their detailing department should be fired. On the other hand they were completely willing to pay for getting it buffed out, unfortunately it didn't get it all out. I'm not sure if I could buff them out better as I think they were being a bit conservative with how far they cut in.
