Default Requesting Tips for C6 Corvette

Hi. I hope this is the right venue to ask the following questions, but I am planning to buy my first Corvette in the next 4-6 weeks.

I'm 6'5" and test drove a 2012 yesterday (1LT) and learned that I have enough headroom (I have long legs), but I look out the upper part of the windshield near the bottom of the visor. I was able to drive comfortably for the ten minutes in the car, but I was wondering if there were any suggestions on how to adjust the seat for people of my height.

Would the 2LT be better or worse for someone of my height?

Lastly, not related to the above, but would one be better off buying a used 2009 through 2011 rather than a new 2012, given that they have the same body style and engine? Any suggestions on how to make a good purchase would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Welcome to the forum. The best place to get C6 tips is C6 General.

Here's a link to that forum, or I can move this thread to that forum for you - your choice, let me know.

I'll assume you did adjust the seat for height and rake, right? Was it fully adjusted to the down position? Other than that, per the seat cover thread already running (by NC-vette---http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-corvette-general-discussion/3004249-2012-seat-conversion-diy-thread-with-lots-of-pics.html), A) the seat bottom isn't very thick, and B) imo there's nowhere for this seat to be lowered any more.

As to the buying a used '09-'11, yes, it does make sense but only if you don't want a GS. GS were not available in '09. But the same engine/drivetrain were available all years you mention, '09-'12, even '08.

I'd test drive a 2LT or a 3LT if possible. At the very least, get a dealer to let you sit in one and adjust the seat, including both the height and the tilt. It is a different seat in the 1LT than what's in the 2LT or 3LT.

don't know your financial status, but I bought my 06 new. It's now paid for, but if I were to buy another one there are a lot of low mileage, like new 10's & 11's out there that could save a person $10-20,000 bucks!
Makes it easier to upgrade to LT3 or other options. Just my thoughts. Good Luck!

I am 6'4 and did a 7000 mile road trip in my 2011 2LT last summer and loved it. The 2011 2LT had the good seats but some things changed in 2012 with the 2LT. I think you may find some new 2011s at some dealers if you look. The only thing I noticed is with the top off I sometimes look over the windshield.

I have a 2011 Coupe, 2LT which I am very happy to own. At 5'11" I am not much help on your height and seating. See if you can find a 2LT for a (long) test drive. Work on the seat position before the test drive and see if it is good for you.

In the alternative to a new, 2012 model, I would suggest a model that is no more than about 2 years old so as to have the balance of the 3 year factory warranty should a problem pops up. Also, you would be eligible to purchase the GM Protection Plan extending repair coverage for several additional years.

Good luck, let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks for the link. I will check it out. I did adjust the seat -- basically set it as far back and low as possible. Someone mentioned to not put it all the way back so the seat can be tilted back more. I may have to test drive a 2LT to see the difference. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know if there is a big difference in sound between the Bose 7 speaker on the 2009/10/11 model vs. the Bose 9 speaker in the '12 model?

Default Seat adjustment

Be sure to get the 3LT option package.
The seats are more adjustable and the telescopic steering column allows you to sit further back. The other item for tall drivers is the glass roof - an extra inch of headroom

I am 6'7" and 230 lbs, I agree with the telescoping steering wheel, would be nice to have, although I am perfectly happy with my 1LT tilt wheel. I found the 1LT seat sat about a finger lower head to roof for me and although doesn't sound like much made the difference to allow me to add a helmet for track days. You might want to consider saving the $$ on the upgrade package and doing the upgrades you really want yourself. I can add Nav, Z-51 suspension (or better), NPP exhaust which were really the only options of interest to me. Honestly, either way you go, I can't believe how comfortable these cars are to drive for tall people. Everything is in ease reach, I don't feel cramped or like I don't fit, and the seat position has been ideal for me. Pick a good one!
