Well said, in fact, very well said. Perhaps Corvette could be a kit car and we could complete its shabby details with an extensive catalog offering as we have to do now.
If it's to be moved out of Chevrolet I vote for Harley Davidson at least they offer their own extensive line of quality accessories.

The Corvette to most Chevy dealers is a pain in the ***. They have nobody in the sales department who knows how to sell them and they have nobody who knows how to order them. My case in point. One of my local dealers didn't order any 12's this year. I asked the owner why? The last three years I have gotten stuck with them and had to take a loss to sell them.
My response was You order 1LT cars with no options thats why you can't sell them? I said we have 30 C6's in our local Corvette club and none are 1LT cars? Do you think guys are going to go backwards buying their next car? I said it is easier to sell a 3LT car than a 1LT car only a first time buyer will buy a 1LT and thats only if they didn't do their research.
Look at all of the Forum dealers they sell cars because they know how to order them, they know how everything works in the car, and they have selection.
GM also needs to wake up and start offering some better colors selections, a 4yr/50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, and better customer service.

Your local dealer needs to hire LocoJack to teach them all about how to market a Corvette. He knows exactly what people need(not necessarily what they want) in a Corvette, and your dealer will sell millions of Corvettes each year. LocoJack knows exactly which models and options the dealer needs to stock to knock Kerbeck out the top slot.
I can tell you from my experience, I spent months looking up what I needed to know to become a knowledgeable buyer. I went to 4 different local dealers just to find out that I knew more than they did. It is a shame for those who are not comfortable buying a car over the internet.
With that said I think Chevy would do a better job if they insisted that certain sales people at a dealership should be the experts on a car that is so highly coveted by our small population. Some of these people who are 1st time buyers who may not have done all the homework needed can rely on the knowledge of their sales person to educate them. I know it's a good chunk of money to spend on a vehicle and you should do your homework.
Lesson learned for me look more closely at the forum vendors although I think that I got a great price locally.
Back to the topic I don't see 30 to 50,000 Corvettes being sold each year in the future. With ZL1's Vipers and GT500's vying for their share of the market it will be more difficult to spin off Corvette. Can't imagine traveling 100 - 200 miles to get warranty service.
QUOTE=Dragracer_Art;1580105661]I sure hate to go against the grain here... but after owning mine a few months, I fail to see what is so coveted or special about the Corvette.
It's performance is great for a factory built vehicle... but it's still put together with a bunch of cheap flimsy materials like every other Chevy.
In my opinion... the "sum of it's parts" just don't add up to the ridiculous retail price found on the window sticker... and it certainly doesn't deserve any special place in the Chevy showroom. It's just another model from Chevy.
It absolutely boggles my mind when I see some Vette owners pampering their car as if it were graced by the hand of God himself.
Seriously guys... it's just a car. [/QUOTE]

In my neck of the woods we have a major dealer that usually has 50 Corvettes on the lot, all new. They know Corvettes but nevertheless are a stealership.
Once the deal is made the customer becomes regulated by the service dept. Up to that point the car salesman is you best friend as is the whole dealership.
Makes me sick.
I will say though that this can be dealt with it just takes more money.
My brother in law spends big $$ every year on new MB for himself and wife. I am talking SL65 AMG and S series for the wife. He walks in and is treated like he owns the place.
Kerbeck in Atlantic City sells Corvettes as a seperate entity,
with a designated showroom for Corvette and salesmen that are very knowledgeable in Corvettes,
not just typical Chevys. Makes for a great sales experience.

Throughout the lands there is a universal rule that is applicable in all society and nations, which transcends languages and religions and is the fundamental basis for much of human relationships:
The more money one dangles, the more strategic sucking up one receives
