I just read an article in the new MT mag. about a Porsche vs a GS and they called the GS dangerous to drive in the cold and rain. Both drivers almost crashed the GS. Seems the tires are not very good.

While the P-Car was absolutely perfect, right?
Car rags don't do 'reporting', they're selling.

More than ever, caveat emptor.

I'm so sick of the negativity about vettes from MT, that I'm not going to renew my subscription.

The "as tested" Porsche has a price well north of the GS. Thus, as usual, it isn't a fair comparison. Now, if they really cared about being truly objective, they would test using a ZR1.

I can't understand why GM falls for this crap from MT. It definitely isn't the first time the have slighted the C6 vette. Makes me wonder if Porsche spends more money in advertising??

I'm not a GS hater(or a Z06 hater, as I have one), but the OE Goodyear's can be dangerous in the cold and wet. It sounds like a couple of idiots were evaluating the car in conditions in which the car was not designed. The GS comes with a summer tire....period. There are better tires that GM could have put on the car, such as the Michelin PS2 like they decided to use on the ZR1, and even though it is also a summer tire, reportedly, performs much better. I have the Bridgestone RE050A tires on my Z06, and they are heads and tails above the Goodyears that came on the car, but they are still a summer tire and you have to drive the car different in 34 degree weather in the rain then in 90 degree weather in the dry. Sounds like the magazine writers are more into keyboards then into cars.

At the end of the article they did want to love the GS because after all it is a Vette.

MT is just looking for an excuse to "knock" the vette..if i hear the steering wheel complaint one more time! so if you have the P car steering wheel its superior..yea , about $50k more, duh!

I het sick of MT's ragging on the Vette as well. First of all, how on earth did a 130k Porsche against a 70k Corvette even remotely make sense? The least they could have done was choose a Z06. Not only that, but they keep complaining about how old it is getting. Well of course it is! It is nearly 8 years old now, that is pretty old for a car. With the C7 coming out, why do they even bother comparing it to anything anymore? It is the same, exact complaints every single time.

If the tires were GOODYEAR R'F's and the suspension was the successor of the Z51,whatever it's called now, then they were probably pretty close to right on that one as far as the tires are concerned. They suck in the rain if you don't know what to expect from them. Most people on here do know what to expect so it's no surprise when the back end slides out a little.Hell,GOODYEAR r/f's aren't that good on dry pavement!!

I have not renewed my subscription for over 3 years yet I keep on getting them sent to me. What does that tell about this "rag"?.......... They need to send me free ones so they can inflate their subscriber numbers to their advertisers.

Some pretty good drivers have set records with the tires you mentioned.

They even criticized the transparent top; for reasons they cared not to explain. Does the Porsche still come with a targa roof?

Advertising dollars are the key to good reviews. It only makes sense that the more a company spends the better the review. It's been going on for a long time. I'm sure companies have threatened to pull their advertising dollars over less than positive reviews.

The tires on the gs zo6 and zr1 are all summer tires. The hotter it is and the road is the stickier the tire is. I have had many types of summer tires on a few different cars. All the tires act the same below 45 or so degrees. This is crazy how bias they are.
