What would you buy?
I'm in the market for a C6.
I have about 27-28K to spend
I'm narrowing down my search and saw a few 2005 with 10-16K miles and a 2007 with 40K miles with new tires/brakes. Assuming same options which one would be a better move?
2007 has a better reliability record. But has many more miles.

w. both Gary and Dave above re the '07.
unless you're a corv. tech., have the car thoroughly checked out by someone who knows them. get the vin # and take it to any GM dealer svce. and find out what's been done to the car on the inhouse computer system; it's free.(or you can ask one of the two or three vendors on here who'll do it like gene culley, ken fitchner, etc.).

I would get the 07. but i bought my 07 last week....(so im bias) lol , but mine is a LMB coupe, Z51, 6M, 3LT with 46k and i bought it for 26,500. I think i got a good price. but i would always go with a newer year and higher mileage, vs lower mileage and older model year. Theres a nice 06 LMB, 6M, couple 1LT on autotrader i almost bought and he was getting ready to take $25,500 and it had only 36k on it, but i found a 3LT instead. So there out there. Ebay has very nice vettes on there, but you also pay a higher premium for them. Goodluck, and honestly, you cant go wrong, with any Vette =)

If you can afford 07 I would go with it. Depending on trim level it should have some options not available on 05. The 05 had different steering wheel (doughboy) and wart for Sirius radio.

Sounds like you got a real good price. Private sale I guess.

yes mine was private party, i found it on autotrader and flew to Texas and drove it back=) the guy was gracious enough to leave the title open for me also, saving me $900 on taxes when i went to plate it earlier this week! =) But the 1 i found for sale in ohio is still listed, and i was close to getting it, as it would of been a grand cheaper, plus my plane ticket to texas and gas back to Indiana. but, i wanted the cashmere interior and HUD. but man, a 2006, LMB, 6M, with 35k and an original owner- for $25,500......is damn hard to beat! ive had 7 vettes now, and id like to think im pretty "in tune" with prices of them- and this is a good deal. I have always had lots of luck on autotrader!

As a general rule if you are focused on C6 I would say newer the better. That said condition and how the car was maintained trumps newer. I would prefer an early low miles garage queen over a newer year car with higher miles. Just my 2 cents.

I know newer is better if the miles and condition are the same. In most cases if the asking price is about the same you're looking at newer one with higher miles and an older one with less. So assuming same condition (body, maintenance, etc) I need to figure out what is better. Are there common issues with a 2005 you don't see in 2007? or vice Versa? I know there are significant benefits to a 2008 but I don't think I can find one for 28K or less unless it had 50K+ miles.

common issues? no, but different ones.
simply put, if you know newer is better than you also know that running changes are made throughout the model year, to an extent. and maybe more importantly, year end changes are made for the next year's model. that's it in a nutshell. if you can determine how the cars were treated and that they are, in fact, equal in condition, the new one wins unless the mileage is so significantly different that wear and tear come into play and not justified by the monetary difference. all is, however, dependent on how well you do your due diligence and the affordability to you, not anyone else.
you would be surprised how prospective buyers will listen to the story of how a car was cared for. especially if I'm telling the story and showing the receipts and mileage log to corroborate it. end of story, your decision now.

while newer wound seem better, miles rule in some cases...
in the question your asking a lot would have to do with how the care are equipped?
... assuming they are similar the biggest question would be how many miles do you put on the car in a year lets say... if you only drive a few thousand mikes say 3 to 5,000 than the 40K car may be the way to go as in 3 years the car will be at around 53, to 60,000 miles.. still reasonable and will hold some value...
If your going to use the car as a daily driver and put say a normal 15K a year on the car after 3 years your going to own a car with 85 to 90 K which is susceptible to lots of repairs and just wont be worth a heck of a bunch and the older car with only 10K now will still only have say around 50K on it later...
your choice, I would be looking at how I much i intend to drive it and it would have a big factor in my final decision...

I just saw an 07 Auto Coupe VY, 13K miles, 3LT Z51 at an Infiniti dealer in Colorado this morning on Ebay. Opening bid is $27500. - good comp., although that's a long way from you. Looks like an awesome deal to me.
Your price range is good, you should be able to get into an 07 for that.

I think you can do better on an 07 than the one you're looking at. But b/n the two you found, I'd take the 07.
