Default Static electricity shock

Just wondering, does your car shock you when you get out of it? It seems when I get out of my car, I get a shock of static electricity. I don't know if its something I am doing or the car. The last Corvette didn't seem to do this. Just wondering if it has something to do with a Z06 and the aluminum frame. Any ideas???

Your profile says you have a 2005 coupe. Do you now have a Z06? If so, maybe the folks in the Z06 forum would have more experience with that.

I've owned a C6 coupe for 7 years, never had any problems with static electricity.

the rubbing of your shoes on the carpeted floor mats could cause this

I cover my mats with cheap, smaller thin rubber mats to protect them...

No such problem, even with the low humidity we have here in Colorado

I've been shocked with the Corvette. Strange because what I touched wasn't metal. Now the Silverado. . . electric shock therapy!

Used to happen to me all the time in my C4 during the winter time, but that car had cloth seats. My new car has leather seats and I haven't had any problems yet.

Try to hold your leg against the car as you swing your body out of the seat. The charge discharges as it builds so you don't get a big zap when you touch something.

2005 C6 here, static electricity broke my xm antenna, lost signal. Had to buy new xm antenna an it works fine now. GM said putting car cover on and removing causes static, also.
good bye car cover.

Just don't carry wash and touch your flat screen. Poof - gone. The car - never had a issue.

Here's the answer. These have been around forever. One would look good attached to the exhaust near the tips.

My left thumb takes multiple static shocks gripping the top rear corner of the power convertible top as I crawl out. Annoying, but so far harmless.
