It would be interesting to get enough data to do a good comparison.

Our 2009 had accumulated 39k miles in a little over two years, so it was one of the "driven a lot but still failed" group.
But even 39K is better than what gets posted here, but still not good.

So yea, I'm not sayin' it still can't fail, but I've seen more vehicles with over 100K with the factory part, than the amount of vettes here that fail with less than 30K or even 20K.

The climate may also play a part. Colder regions have a wider temp spread between winter and summer than say what we get here in Florida.

Seems to me, that most, but not all, of the failures are on vehicles with limited use.
Yeah, my Silverado has over 250K and no externals leaks whatsoever, from anything.

Does the coolant really look pink when it's leaking? I would think anything pink would be tranny fluid.

Truck engines likely have an upgraded pump. Fleet owners won't tolerate trucks with pumps that fail prematurely.

If you can figure out how to word a poll to compare years vs miles, I'd sure like to see the results!

And is there anything besides the original GM design, that we can install for longer life?

You got it all wrong. The question is how do you know that you have a leak.

You know you have a leak when you step in the poodle.

I had small-pink-puddle syndrome this time last year. Waterpump went on my '06 at around 20k. Certified by GM so no cost to me and dealer handled quickly with no problem.
